Comment:
I absolutely adore Professor Perez. His teaching style is a little non-typical, so be prepared for that. It's very discussion centered, and he doesn't stand for intellectual laziness. That means you have to do your readings and actually think. But he's very responsive, and will stay as long as he needs to. A really kind man and great teacher.

Very tough professor but very intelligent. He makes you understand the big picture of the law and how it ties economics, morality and philosophy all together. I enjoyed his class even though I was completely lost in the beginning. You must do reading every day. Despite what he says, get a hornbook to help you piece together what he is saying.

Perez is tough and he loves to talk about Judges, so know those opinions. He is a good professor, but he is confusing at times. However, his tests are straightforward. Great sense of humor as well. Enjoyed it through the difficulties.

He is incredibly smart and impressive. You leave class exhausted because he is so engaging. He seemed seemed so tough on day one, but by the end he was hysterical :) This class was inspiring. He gave an ungraded "midterm," gave feedback, and met with every student to discuss. This guy is incredible.

The rating criteria on this site don't permit an accurate assessment of Prof. Perez's class. His teaching cannot be described in terms of helpfulness, easiness, or clarity. In the words of Dennis Hopper from Apocalypse Now, "the man's enlarged my mind...." He's a lawyer-philosopher in the classic sense.

Best professor I've had in law school hands down. Super smart, very charismatic, expects ALOT from students. Don't be intimidated by his style or take anything personally, he's the nicest guy ever and only cares about generating an insightful discussion. After the sem is over you will be a far more knowledgeable law student.

Perez is a GREAT professor. He is tough, but much more fair than most will realize. He expects you to struggle and will not fault you for being confused. By setting the bar just out of reach, Perez succeeds in pushing students to perform well above their own expectations. I am a better student for having been in his class.

Come to class prepared and you'll be fine. He encourages students to THINK. But if you have read a few pages ahead, you at least won't look like an idiot. Really loved his class.

This is the challenge I expected when I came to law school. Perez relies heavily on Socratic Methods and makes you think about the constitution and the relationships between decisions, history, and policy in ways that never would have occurred to me. Whatever grade I get for Con law, I would take him again. I'm a better student because of him.

Comment:
If the goal of con law is for the class as a whole to come out learning the important information, then Perez fails miserably. His teaching style is off the wall and probably will appeal to 5 or 10 people out of a 50 person section. In the end, we are all paying money to learn, and I am not impressed by someone who tries to be incomprehensible

Perez is very difficult. Plays hide the pickle with his students making it very difficult to find what he is looking for. His test was the hardest I have ever taken and seemed to have nothing to do with contracts. You will learn, but may not be tested on that!

This man was born to be a professor. I learned more in 4 months than I thought possible. He uses the old-school Socratic method, so do your reading! And don't worry, everyone gets grilled, that's how you learn, and it gives you some good law school horror stories to bore your family with over the holidays!

Belligerent self-promoter. He's extremely smart, and spends every class proving that to you, either by cutting you apart or by rambling on in a philosophical way. Treats students with scorn. Avoid signing up for his classes if you can.

Good luck! This man is very confusing (it is his stated goal...) You will leave wondering what the heck went on everyday. Even if you understand the book, you won't understand the discussion. If you value your dignity, don't go to class if you have not read! Exam is tough, but managable if you study this like its your job

You will hate him for the 1st month. He will scare you and belittle you. However, after the 1st month he settles down a little and all he really cares about is generating an intelligent discussion. Under no cir****stances fall behind in the reading. He will use anything and everything as part of the discussion. Though he can come off as a jerk durin

I am a real adult with a real career. This man is pompous, which could be more tolerable if he actually taught instead of putting on the Tony Perez show. This is not what the students are paying for.
