Comment:

Dr. Cook is super nice and approachable, however, her explanations of class material and lectures were often confusing and I found myself reading and learning strictly from the textbook (which was really helpful and explained the material really well!). The class itself was really easy, as she offers many opportunities for extra credit!

Comment:

When she does teach (rarely, due to her tangents) she often rushes through concepts without giving any explanation for what she's doing. Course starts off easy but be prepared to quickly get lost. Her syllabus makes little sense (have to do 3/4 of HW assignments & only 3/4 total). Class can be very easy if you teach yourself what's going on.

The worst professor I've ever had. I've already taken a stats class, I just took this to fill credits and it's been awful. She gets off topics in lectures, reads the book to you, and the most annoying this is her questions on homework/quizzes/exams aren't logical; the tests are more about your ability to understand nonsense than statistics.

Not the best teacher. Nice woman, who is willing to sit down and talk about your grades. But I had to teach myself 95% of this course

Comment:

This class is great! If you do 75% of the homework she raises your grade a whole letter grade! We do weekly class participation and she basically gives you the tools on how to get a 100 on the quizzes. You can go up to her during quizzes and she helps you with the answers (sometimes gives you it) she's so sweet and is very fair with grading!! Easy

Easiest class. She lets you use your notes on the test, just make a study guide and you are set. She also gives you a worksheet on Wednesday which is just the quiz but with different numbers. Had a quiz every Friday. Just show up on Wednesdays and Fridays and you're good for an A.

She's really sweet but she basically reads out of the textbook, so other than what she reads you pretty much have to teach yourself. It's not so difficult though, watch Khan Academy videos. She's an easy grader and the assignments are easy. Highest exam 30%, second 20%, lowest 10%. Homework optional but do them, she raises grade half letter.

Easy as long as you show up and understand basic algebra. Doesn't teach well, makes things confusing but grades easy and drops 3 quiz grades. Homework is optional but if you do it she raises your grade half a letter grade.

Only takes attendance on Fri, allows 3 pages of notes during exams but doesn't check so people use their whole binder, can barely hear her, many people take notes from the book during lecture, doesn't count homework towards grade, worst exam 10% of grade, second worst 20%, best 30%, calculators are allowed on exams, phones allowed except on final

Can barely hear her from the first row, but it doesn't matter because she often goes off on tangents. By the end of syllabubs week I had taken to sitting in the back and taking notes from the online book. Barely went to class at the end of the semester. She allows notes during exams and almost everyone cheats. Easy class, but you won't learn.

The easiest math class I've ever taken. As long as you go to class she literally gives you the answers to all the tests and quizzes and lets you use them on the real thing.

Taking this class was a pretty terrible experience. I went from having undoubtedly the best high school math professor in the state (from the #1 high school in maine) to Dr. Cook. She loves to mumble at the board, and hardly teaches- she just says what she is writing on the board. It's extremely easy to lose attention in her class. Don't take it.

Comment:

She is a horrible teacher. She does not know how to present the material and gives you very easy examples. Tells you "this problem is too hard so it won't be on the test" How are you supposed to learn something for a future class if she doesn't make you do it. I did none of the homework and didn't study for the tests and still got an A.

Really bad at explaining things...reads only from text. Constantly says "This is so easy" even when the whole class doesn't feel that way. Don't take this class with this teacher.

Uninteresting class. She wants everyone to pass. Quizzes all the time to take attendance. Know the formulas and the quiz questions and you can easily pass. Does go on tangents and you could sleep through it all if not for the quizzes.

Worst of the Worst!! An outdated course. She will read you the text. Talk about how she wants EVERYONE to pass, yet can't be taken seriously enough to attend. Allows tangents, off Track by students. I want my tuition back!!
