This class was pretty easy and straight forward. She expects you to read the book and assigns homework before you go over the material in class, and after. Homework was online. She did go over everything pretty well, but she isn't very good at answering questions. Her lectures have a mechanic air, but they aren't boring. Tests were easy and online.

Great professor! Very clear, organized, I actually learned the material. You must go to class to do well but she goes over absolutely anything you will need to know. Fair grading opportunities (homework, pre-chapter assignments). You must try though. I would absolutely take another class with her :)

Comment:

Hardest class I've ever taken. I studied more than I've ever studied for tests, a countless amount of hours, and I still got C's or D's. The entire class consisted of 3 difficult tests that differed in style=unpredictable. Luckily everyone did poorly and she curved the class. Everyone passed. She doesn't award pluses or minuses in you final grade.

Loved this class. I felt she clearly explained all of the accounting principles and used accurate examples. She does demonstration problems in class and goes over problems that are similar to the homework.

Comment:

Birk is an amazing/super nice professor. For those who find math difficult and or boring, this class may bore you. She structures her class pretty well and if anything READ THE BOOK; it'll help you comprehend the stuff better than just attending the lectures and taking notes.

I love her she is so sweet and helpful. This class is definitely hard, but with the new system they are using you just have to get Ds on the tests and do all of the homework to pass. Luckily Cynthia is a great teacher and if you take her you are likely to get higher than a D on exams. I would definitely recommend her for ACC classes.

Cynthia is awesome! She is super sweet and helpful. She will do anything to make sure you understand. Subject is hard but she does her best to explain. I love her! Its a hard class but Cynthia really helps!

Accounting is a very hard subject. Cynthia is the SWEETEST teacher I have ever had. She is willing to work with you and help you whenever you need it! She offers extra credit, drops your two lowest quiz scores, drops your two lowest homework scores and allows you to replace a higher test grade with a lower test grade in the end! She is GREAT!

Makes the most boring subject not so bad. 3 tests and a final. HW and (at home) quizzes are pretty easy. She tells you EXACTLY what is going to be on the test. She's probably one of the nicest accounting teachers you will find at UNR.

Probably one of the nicest people I've ever met. I never went to class and I'm sure she noticed, but still greeted me with a smile at test time. This class was great for me because quizzes and homework were all online and class was not required. Test expectations are made very clear. Just brush up on tests before hand, easy A even without class.

Comment:

Professor Birk is a worthless teacher. The class requires the completion of a project called Smithville which is an utter waste of time. Besides that Birk structures the class around a horrible participation scheme which does little than bore most students. I would have learned more by opening the book for 30 minutes than attending her lectures.
