Classes are entirely discussion based. The class is an easy A but do not expect to truly learn anything. I concluded the course with a 95% and I could not explain a single sociological theory.

Dr Jasper is a brilliant man. Some students don't like him because he forces the student to come to their own conclusions but that is how you learn. If he calls on you a lot he likes you and wants to hear what you have to say despite the way he may come off because he likes to play devils advocate. Promotes deep thinking and academic growth...

Seriously? How can ANYONE say he was a good teacher? Teachers actually TEACH something. If I wanted a course where all I did was read the text and teach myself, I would have saved the 43K a year! Egotistical doesn't event cut it - but D-bag does. BTW: I had a 3.97 GPA prior to his class, so I am NOT a slacker...HE is a terrible prof!

He is an intelligent man; however, his passion for certain topics blinds him to alternative points of view. When challenged, he becomes combative, and accusatory; thus making him appear self-righteous and unprofessional. He is a great teacher for students in need of direction; however, those with strong personalities/opinions should stay clear.

He is extremely intelligent and understanding, however, he does want to push students to go the extra mile and really absorb the material. I have only had one class with him, a class which is pretty unstructured and does not have a lot of opportunity for grades-but if you try hard and care about the material you should for the most part do well.

At first you will question why you are even in the class, however, as time goes by, you are able to pick up on his teaching techniques. Some people say that the test were impossible, they are not. Just study every single vocab word and reread the chapters and you will be fine.

Hated this class, he just talked to hear himself, impossible to pay attention, tough grader of papers and reading notes, test might as well be a blank sheet of paper, tests are very long, never enough time to finish them. Not helpful at all, makes you feel stupid, only reason i'm not failing is because of the work i do outside of class.

A total waste of my time and money. He talked about the strangest things that made no sense...he doesn't grade on your work but by how much he likes you...thank god for that or i would have failed. He does pick his favorites so be ready if you're not one!!!

350 characters isn't enough for me to rave about how wonderful Dr. Jasper is. The class was amazing, it changed the way I look at the world. I feel like I got the grade I deserved, so I don't agree that he plays favorites or doesn't grade fairly. I worked hard for my A-, but the work wasn't that bad because I was interested in the course matter.

Dr. Jasper is definitley really smart. He just can't teach. He ran the class as a discussion, but had a clear agenda and wasn't open to our ideas when we voiced them. But, as long as you figure out what he wants you to say and say it, you'll do fine.

Unfair grader; picks favorites. Supposedly he got in trouble for giving too many good grades so now he gives constant Cs. The class was mostly discussion-based, but participation didn't seem to have an effect on our final grade. Another thing that will not help your grade is if you see him for suggestions before a paper or presentation is due.
