I took Dr. Forbes for my freshman chem lab. He is a great lab professor as he is clear in his expectations and is helpful during lab especially when you are a beginner learning foundational chemistry techniques and equipment. Be prepared before lab by reading the lab procedure and answering pre-lab questions. Overall, great experience with Forbes.

Doesn't care whether you succeed or fail. In fact, goes out of his way to make sure you lose points for things. Added extra difficult questions to exams halfway thru the semester because grades were too high for his ego to handle. No one ever got any of them right, and then he made 30% of the final with the same exact q's, knowing we'd miss them

David Forbes, ah he starts off good. He starts off funny and really seems to care about his students. But he screwed our class over. On the final I had an 85 and ended with a 73. Be prepared and dont get on his bad side or he will punish you the rest of the semester.

Would so take him for 202 if given the chance. 4 tests, 4 quizzes, some online quizzes. One drop test, its your homework grade; homework isnt hard. If taking for 201, MAKE TEST 4 YOUR DROP; do good on first 3. 4x6 notecard for tests, but still study, they can be hard. Looks out for his students. Very nice. Funny in lecture. I came out with an A.

I had Forbes for CH 202L. Very nice man who is willing to help as much as he can. Lab quizzes are always the same format. He grades very hard on the post labs. Focus on the conclusions and discuss EVERYTHING. If you think you've done enough, do more. Apply any critiques he gives you for your lab reports to improve your grade.

Dr. Forbes is one of thr best professor at South that I ever had. There are total 4 major exam and 1 ACS in the final. 2 out of 4 lowest grade would be replaced with the Orion (which is guaranteed 100/100 unless you are stupid). Be sure to read the book up to date the material was covered, because you never know when he will give pop quiz.

Organic Chemistry is not an easy course. You are going to have to study and work hard if you want an A. However, Dr. Forbes makes Organic a joy; he is enthusiastic about what he teaches and he urges you to learn more about the subject matter. I found myself loving the material as the semester progressed. Fair tests. Informative and fun lectures.

He isn't helpful at all during office hours and his lectures are comically terrible, so if you aren't the best at picking things up quickly or teaching yourself, don't bother with this guy. He'll only go out of his way for honor students and athletes, so if you're one of those, you're in for a treat. There are other teachers, save yourself the pain

This is a seminar class for Freshman Honors students. It was nice to get to know other students and a highly esteemed faculty member. Bought us Starbucks a few times as well. He really cares about the well-being of all students.

Very nice guy, but doesn't teach very well. I felt lost every single day in his class. Definitely if you can, choose someone else for Organic 2!

Dr. Forbes is entertaining but does not teach. Expect to learn organic chemistry on your own using the textbook. He doesn't help at all or explain concepts. He's very smart and expects you to know chemistry as well as he does, forgetting we have no background in orgo. Only take if you are good at teaching yourself or are an expert in organic chem.

I did not have him for lecture, but he is great in lab. He is very clear and specific. He will go through the lab and explain how to do everything. He is very helpful. He rambles off subject a little but it is not that big of a deal. I would take him again.

Great professor. Do the recommended skill builders in the book, show up to class, and you should have an A. He gets off topic a little bit which will cause the class to get a little behind at times, but this is not a major issue

Dr. Forbes genuinely cares about his students and learn who you are. His lectures work best if you have already read the chapter. He does a swell job on clarifying most of the concepts and makes them easy to understand; however, sometimes he skims over topics. His tests are tough but focused on his lectures. READ THE BOOK! Take Forbes. #craycray

Dr. Forbes' organic class was the hardest class I had to take at South. Dr. Forbes is a great man and very funny however; the course is just extremely difficult if you don't understand certain concepts. My advice ask for help and read that textbook. His class was hard but he is extremely helpful and loves his students. He wants you to pass! #GREAT

Take him for lecture. Awesome lecturer and hilarious. Will explain anything if you dont get it even if it's really stupid. DO NOT take him for lab. Everybody in there was struggling bc he grades so hard. Other than that, he's an awesome guy. Def recommend him for lecture.

Dr. Forbes is a good professor. He made sure that everyone interacted together in lab to make sure it was very enjoyable. The quizzes are not difficult, but the pre-labs and lab reports each week do get old and is a lot of work .

An involved teacher, but wrong priorities. He focuses on too much on mechanisms, which are theory. It's a struggle to pass, most of his tests he puts things on them that he hasn't taught. He doesn't properly prepare the class for the ACS final. Only 3 students passed it,he had to raise everyone's average by a whole letter grade to not get fired.
