all he does is read out of the book. get ready for pop quizzes. they are very specific and have options like " none of the foregoing" or "two of the foregoing" so they are super tricky. the reading assignments are not long but some stories ar ehard to understand. There are essays. my class was lucky enough to have them take-home

Just read whatever he assigns and you're good. He gives pop quizzes but if you actually read the stories and don't try to go on Sparknotes or something then its pretty straight forward. Pop quizzes were all multiple choice, the worst one was like 20 questions but most are at 10. As long as you show up and read the stories, you good.

This guy actually gives specific ass questions on these pop quiz, like the most minor details in this book. You better study those quotes b/c thats how specific it gets.

Let me be your Guardian Angel, guys. If you are looking for the ENG 2800 professor and you are at least a little interested in keeping a good GPA, do not take this professor. Super unorganized, gives very specific questions on the pop-quizzes. Ratings from ENG2100 students are very misleading if you are considering this professor for 2800. Avoid!!!

He makes this class boring. This guy gives real POP quizzes! Does not encourage participation and takes attendance daily. Only one paper for the semester and he gives you the option between two different readings. There is a large insane amount of readings throughout the semester. One midterm and one final, with difficult essay questions.

this professor is a joke, literature classes are meant to be about reading and analyzing and writing but instead he gives pop quizzes that's irrelevant and they are worth 20% total grade

Comment:
For literature 2800, take another professor. Nobody in our class received an A as his curves were a joke. There is no reason to take an English class this unnecessarily difficult as there are plenty of easy A teachers. The 2100 and 2150 reviews of him are misleading - very different class so be careful if you're taking 2800.

Super easy. 4 essays and that's it. If you get less than a B total from the 4 essays, he'll make you do another. So that's 5 if you get an average of B with the first 4 essays. But he is an extremely lenient grader. He hands out A minuses and B pluses like nothing, so feel free to take him and get an easy A.

Professor Hohl was very attentive and really gave good feedback. He gives detailed feedback and doesn't grade easy but he allows you to re-write. Tough but rewarding

It's literature, so one should expect to do plenty of reading. Professor Hohl was amazing from my point of view. Take advantage of his lenient grading, re-write your paper if he ask you. It helps. Midterm+Final exams are essays. I would suggest paying attention in class but that could be more difficult than reading. So Read! Notes! (A-)

Hohl is an easy teacher, not to many essays probably like 4 or 5, depending on how much material you get through. He is a fair grader, and he gives you a lot of days off throughout the semester. I WOULD 100% TAKE HIM! his class is boring but easy, and he drops your lowest grade.

I personally did not think he is an easy English professor. He does not require much work in class but his exams are difficult and requires you to read a lot. The only positive thing when it comes to exams is that it is open book, which is extremely helpful since it is impossible to get a B if he didn't offer this to his students.

Good: gives extensions, does not ask you to speak in class Bad: is boring, makes you want to sleep in class, does not engage the class, throws random quizzes, not a good professor because he did not update the page numbers for the new text

Good professor. Quizzes are a bit tricky, and grammar is REALLY important - so be careful with that on your take home paper (he does not take off points on the midterm and final for that stuff unless it is egregious). He curves the grade, so that's good. Just make sure to read and you'll be fine.

Highly recommended. Four essays, 1 paper, drops the lowest grade, allows rewrite for another and gives generous extensions. Classes are boring - you can sleep - but read the texts, give a little bit of time to it and write good essays, you'll be fine. Easy A-.

If you're looking to cross English off your list with exerting virtually no effort, this is your guy. Easy A. He has seniority so he's kind of careless about class.
