He goes off the rails sometimes with stories but they are relevant and he will always find a way to relate it to the class. Great discussion and really looks for class participation. He is passionate about the subject matter.

Does not teach!! At all!!! Just rambles on and on about his life and youre left to do all the studying and reading. Quizzes are hard for the simple fact that he doesnt teach. Hes lazy and hates his job. I took him because the reviews said he was easy, but hes not. Its only easy if you spend hours studying at home and befriending him in school.

At least in the course I'm taking, you never feel a sense of how you're doing when it comes to your grade. He dosen't give enough homework to get a feeling of it all, and you're never really prepared for the next class as he often changes his mind on what we are covering next. I know he has a life and all, but some preparation would be nice.

This is probably the worst professor I have ever taken. His lectures are so irrelevant to what we are meant to be doing that day according to the syllabus. He probably spends 5 minutes on books he had assigned for that class and the rest on a topic he finds intriguing and then goes on rants. Avoid at all costs.

Very unorganized. If you need this class to fulfill a req, take him-- it's a pretty easy A. If you're hoping to learn methodically, this is not the professor for you. McKay is VERY knowledgeable in Drama, so much in fact, that he cannot keep his mind from going on a tangent every two minutes. No clear grading system either. He has potential though.

Spent lectures going off on tangents, assigned a group midterm for the entire class, gave a final on material he was too distracted to teach, does not teach well. Great guy, not a great professor. As an English major, it's hard to hate an English class, but I hated going to this one each week.

As an overall individual he is very knowledgable but in class he is very unorganized. Group projects are unorganized, lectures are unorganized. The first two months were great I enjoyed the class and books but then we never stayed on topic after the first two books. If the whole semester was like the first two months I would recommend him. But no!!

While his lectures are all over the place, he clearly knows his subject and it shows. He's a treasure trove of literature knowledge and if you take advantage of his classes, i.e. you pay attention, ask questions, and take note of the random factstidbits he mentions in class, you come out with a great overview of lit as a subject.

Horrible Professor!!! He is all over during class. Has a problem with the new standards and makes sure everyone knows it. Goes off in class and loses train of thought. Barely goes over the books. His group project is very unorganized! Avoid!!!

McKay is a good professor, just be prepared to be writing MLAs for every assignment. He's very particular with them coming out perfect and I feel it took away from the assignment. His class always goes over time but it's always an interesting class.

If you want to truly take a class to "learn," McKay's your kind of prof. He's potent with so much knowledge, it's incredible! Participation is MANDATORY! He wants a reciprocal environment. Everyone's chipping in (Prof and You). He's so interesting you'll love him!

When you take professor McKay's literature for young people course and complete it, you will walk out with a new outlook for literature. Immediately, when you take his course, you will notice a series of readings that you must complete in order to keep up with the class. Beware if you do well on everything-including final- you will pass the course.

Lets b real, he is very strict &wants things his way or take the highway. There is a ton of reading/books (tho some are interesting). He opens up ur eyes2 other views (which is cool) BUT he can b real stink esp. with usage of words. Some will leave u in awe. Personally, I wouldn't take him but if ur looking for a challenge, go all for it.

He wasn't such a bad teacher except that he never responds to emails, is never clear on what he wants in a paper and when assignments are due. If you have a choice, DON'T TAKE HIM.

He appears to be meaner than he is. Will give you all the time he can to help you, if you need it. Great class discussions, a bit tangential but you learn a lot from him. The class was more geared toward how to teach the material, which was a wide variety and all every good! I didn't even sell the books back. Take him if you can.

His class was more geared toward those in Education. He wants you to think of how you'd teach his books to your students. I felt really good about class discussions because he really encourages it. His books were so good I kept one to read over and over again. His work isn't hard; just follow his deadlines, though he can be lenient about them.
