Dr. Deb is awesome. Go to her office hours! She is always willing to listen and genuinely cares about her students. Even though it was at 8:30am, this class was well worth it! Take her class!

I had Deb my first semester of college and loved her. She was super engaging and really funny... she made waking up for an 8:30 not so bad! If you keep up with assigned readings and participate in class, you will be fine. Gives a variety of topics to choose from for papers and is a fair grader, gives great feedback. Highly recommended! :)

Very charismatic, funny, and quick minded. She never disappoints and always has a joke or funny story to lighten the mood. Very very intelligent and very laid back; expect work but not to the point where you have no life. Papers only on interesting and easy topics. no tests no quizzes. Great professor, everyone should take a class with her.

Deb is a fantastic professor in that she knows so much about what she is teaching. She is passionate about the work so she expects a lot from her students. American literature was easy and fun but the readings were super old and dense. Deb was tough with grading on the first assigned essay so go to office hours and see how you can improve

Deb was really into the class however I was not. Poetry isn't really my thing. She was strict on length requirements for the papers we had to write which bothered me a bit. And she was not very forgiving on any of these papers. If you're looking for an easy, GPA-boosting english credit, I wouldn't recommend this professor.

She makes poetry very interesting, but she does go off on tangents sometimes about personal analogies. She didn't cover many major poets, like Tennyson or Byron, and it got boring once we came to modern poetry. Altogether, it's a fun, easy class as long as you keep up with the material, but a LOT of people probably lost an easy A from carelessness.

Deb is a wonderful woman! She is extremely knowledgable about what she is talking about and very charismatic. I definitely recommend taking ANY class with her! She grades papers a little hard, but nightly hw and presentations to the class aren't tough to get an A on.

She's alright, but I honestly don't like the class. I'm not a huge poetry fan and that's just about all she teaches. Even when we read literature other than poetry, she insists on having us treat it like poetry. Overall do not take her class if you aren't a huge fan of poetry.

Actually one of the smartest professors in the english department. It is a shame she does not teach more higher level courses, some male professors could learn a thing or two from her intellect. Easy class, great structure- only papers, no **** computer stuff, covers a lot of ideas in every class.. versus a lot of other professors who refuse to

Deb is one of my favorite teachers at UVM. Not only is she extremely helpful and engaging, she is funny, kind and sincerely wants her students to succeed. Her 19th c. American Fiction class was excellent as well. Deb kept class conversations interesting and showed true insight into the material she was teaching. Highly recommend.

Great professor. She's always upbeat and enthusiastic about what she's teaching. I loved the class and English is on of my least favorite subjects. Grade is based on 3 papers each of which have numerous topics to choose from. One of my favorite classes this semester.

Deborah is wonderful. She loves what she's talking about and spends a lot of class giving interesting background information about what we had read. I found all 4 books online and there was a 50$ book you had to get. the grade is made up of 3 papers which don't even have to be on the books, can be on poems or anything else we read. reasonable grade
