I highly recommend not taking any classes with Erin McLaughlin-Jenkins. She is a terrible professor who sets unrealistic high standards for students. Her grading is unrealistic and tough. Her feedback on students papers is very gruesome and rude because she makes students sound unintelligent. Weekly assignments and essay topics are very of boring.

She made me interested in the material. I loved her class and wish I could take it again, even though there was so much hard work. She is very nice and personable, you just have to approach her. Also, she loves when students take part in the lecture. The lecture is the most important thing. Come prepared with the slides; take VERY detailed notes!

THE BEST! Very passionate and will go the extra mile to help you if she sees you putting in an effort. Does not accommodate slackers, so if you're looking for an easy course, she's not for you. But if you want to actually learn she will whup your butt into shape! Gives great feedback to help improve your essay writing skills and grades in general.

This woman was the worst prof I've ever had at UVic. She compensates for her insecurity by being nasty and putting people down. She seems to need validation from her students, so she cultivates a clique of syncophants while reveling in her power over others. She tried to give me a C on my paper; I filed a grade appeal and got an A! Good ridance!

Dr. MJ is by far the most inspiring, helpful caring prof i have had at uvic. She is demanding but it is worth it. For those of you, who claim that she is a bully, or too hard, you obviously miss her message and dont put enough effort in. Uvic needs more teachers like her.

the Dr. is in the house ! by far the best teacher I have ever had at the university level, helpful, interested and challenging....UVIC should do everything possible to keep this teacher........never been in a class where the teacher was loved and respected as much as with prof MJ

If York University is so great, then why are you teaching at UVIC? My advice for future students, suck up, never miss a class, and start you essay on the first day. MJ will make you work for it, even if you only get a C+!
