Do not take him if you aren't good at math. He gives homework every single night. Gave two extremely difficult but doable papers. Three tests that were pages and pages long. Super hard to pass unless you know your stuff.

I was always good at math but I was really bad at calculus. He was a great professor who saved my life. I did great on the tests, bad on the pop quizzes, and I didn't finish one of the questions on the final but I got an a+. Go to class, read the textbook, study for tests and quizzes and you'd be fine.

He is a little bit hard to understand in class but once you review it you will get it. His tests dif versions of the review sheets. he gives 10 xta points on tests and 15 xtra for final. He is more interested in whether you do the work correctly over whether the answer is correct. He will explains things super clear in his office hours if your go.

He is a pretty good, professor. Teaches well, and is quite helpful to students. First test was a little tricky and more difficult than the 2nd one - I think bc prob, is a little tricky to understand. Final was in perfect accordance to the class. Understand the review sheets and you should pass the class. Not hard.

Very hard teacher. I would not recommend you to take this professor. He always limits time for students to take the exams. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

The course material was well-presented and clear. Review sheets before tests are VERY useful. The tests are on the "thinking side" which means students who study formulas will still pass but find it hard to get that top grade. Overall great professor. Learned a lot!

Always open for Q's, knows how to explain probability, and gives review sheets before each exam. Best part was that he grades out of 115, so u can get 15 pts off and still get an A+. The exams are long and difficult though. If you pay attention and ask Q's, its very possible to get a good grade. I got an A, take him if u want to learn probability.

Taken as a filler class. You won't find an amazing Professor here, nor a bad one. He is a competent Professor at the very least, always open to questions, even after class, and provides review before an Exam. However, that does not make the class easy, given that the subject was HARD, and thus the exams as well. Be warned: Test scores=Grade

He's a good teacher and all, but his exams are EXTREMELY and RIDICULOUSLY long!! You need to know the material like the back of your hand...can't think to much on the exam so it's hard a)completing it b)actually getting a grade you'd be satisified with. It's not IMPOSSIBLE to get an A in the class, you just have to work a LOT harder than usual.

This guy is very thorough and teaches this course at a graduate level. Even though 201 was not a pre-req, he still taught some multivariable calculus in the course, but it was not too difficult. Exams arre huge, but you only get 50 min to do it. Very challenging, but you do learn a lot.

CUNY offers few Probability classes, and this is really Math major level material. If you have a high GPA, and are not a Math major, stay away. If you are a Math major, work hard and you will learn much. He is an excellent instructor and tests are quite thorough. No joking around or coasting here. You must do homework alon with his URL material.

I have a 3.9 gpa. I am a senior and was supposed to be graduating this semester but because of this guy I am not. I had to withdraw. Aside from his poor teaching skills, the material itself is very, very difficult. So beware and good luck.

Dr.Fischthal is an excellent teacher, imo. He is extremely patient with his students and answer every question. His exams are not easy but I would not say hard either. If you put effort in his class, you should be OK. It's not an easy A class for sure. I recommend anybody who reading this take him for whatever he teaches. You will not regret.

If you're looking to take the actuarial exams, take this course and you'll be prepared. If this is a requirement for something else, then don't take it. He explains pretty well, but the tests are very difficult, and an A is nearly impossible. Also, the final was completely different from what he said it would be. Non-Math majors, watch out!

Great professor - you will not learn more math from anyone else. If you want to actually learn calculus by the end of the semester then you should definitely take Professor Fischtal. He always has time to help with any problems you may have. His exams are definitely tougher than other professors, though, so be prepared.

I would recommend him. He answers ever questions and explains the HW clearly. Two midterms, the 1st one is easy and 2nd is tricky. Final is hard and he counts it more than those two exam. Study and do most of his HW's.
