Comment:

He was super funny during class but still did a good job of teaching the material. He breaks down all of the problems step by step multiply times so its very easy to understand. He doesn't grade homework but its super important to do other wise you won't pass the tests. He is very willing to asnwer questions in class.

Comment:

I hate math more than anything. But Prof Garrett made is bearable. He provides his notes from the class to a classmate who emails it out to everyone. The tests are exactly like the homework and he only changes numbers around on the test. Lots of homework, but the homework is your test so don't blow it off. The book is absolutely necessary to pass.

He really, really, really loves calculus. He's been teaching calculus for years. Tests come straight from the homework and the questions that he works in class. Buy a used book as he does not use the website codes that come with book. He doesn't grade homework. All of your grades come from tests. Ive never been strong in math, but he makes it easy.

He goes the extra mile and helps his students get a good education preparing us for material to come teaching us some tricks that usually don't come until later giving us a real edge! It's an easy course if you study the problems. He'll even assign someone to email everyone in the class his own notes to help us understand the material.

Mr Garrett is generally a nice teacher with a good sense of humor. He explains his lectures well, and is there for any help. If you dont plan on studying, you wont pass his class.

Comment:

This was my third attempt at taking calculus and I don't think I would have passed without Mr. Garrett. He assigns optional homework, but the tests are made from HW questions so by doing the HW, I felt very well prepared for each test. He will work with you to help you understand new concepts and even emails the notes from class. Awesome teacher.

Comment:

While he's really entertaining and likes to tell lots of stories, he gets off track in between lessons and it throws off my attention. His methods of teaching are weird and if you are you going to take his class, sit in the front so you're able to see everything he's writing down (he uses the projector)

This was my first math class in about 10 years and Mr. Garrett is great! HW is assigned but not graded. Instead he takes problems from the HW for his exams. There were 5 exams, dropping the lowest of the first 4, and the final was optional. If you put forth the effort you'll pass his class. He's very helpful & encourages questions.

He was great at explaining algebra. I hate math and barely passed his class but probably wouldn't have had it not been for his methods and ways of memorizing formulas. I would highly recommend him.

Tough, yet wisetests material only, so know it! Ask questions after class or during office hrs. If you ask during class, he'll single you out and juveniles will laugh. Use Math Lab & **KNOW YOUR TRIG**! **DON'T COPY HIS NOTES** His notes are emailed to you. Bring recorder and devote ALL class time to listening. Again, LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN!

Excellent professor! He explains math very well and is a pretty funny guy(if you like semi dry humor). His tests are taken directly from the homework, LITERALLY. I would highly recommend him to others and would take him again. Great class!!! Although, if you missed class you were kinda SOL, but he sends his notes to you via email so you cant gripe!

He DOES NO USE THE CODE FROM THE BOOK! assignments come straight from the book and are just practice, they aren't collected. If you don't understand something ASK bc he will move on. Tests are exactly like the problems from the book so just pay attention. He can be long winded and get distracted but you can still learn a lot. EASY A

Great guy, just doesn't teach in my style. He takes questions right out of the book and works them on a piece of paper under the overhead camera(which I did not care for). Will answer any questions in class, and help you if you have a personal problem that is affecting school. He talks a lot about his college football days(comet). if take GET BOOK!

He is a great guy and even better teacher. His homework IS the test review. The questions he works out in class, the homework questions, AND the test questions are all exactly the same, but with different numbers. He sets aside an entire class to review homework questions if you have trouble. Just show up and do the work and you will pass.

Prof Garrett is a fantastic math teacher and very easy if you understand math. I had him for MTH 173, and his tests were always out of 110 percent. He does not give quizzes or even mandatory homework, but if you have any common sense you will do it considering the test questions come from hw/class problems. Take him!!!

Comment:

HE is a very good instructor with an interesting history. Very clear and often jokes here and there, (although you will chuckle briefly at best). Very thorough with the material and gives 110 points per test. Mind you he is a very opinionated man who often brings up irrelevant ideals from right-wing politics which will annoy some people.

Mr. Garrett is an exceptional professor! Mr. Garrett does not give any quizzes for the MTE classes, but expects the homework to be completed the day before the exit exam. Mr. Garrett also gives a practice exam the week before the actual exam and reviews it in class. He has a great sense of humor and I highly recommend him!

Great teacher! I'm not a math student at all but he makes it easy to understand. Highly recommended! Pick Mr. Garrett for your math prof! The notes he gives are exactly like the tests. :):)

STAY AWAY. Gives no review for tests, hard on grading, likes to go off on random tangents and stray away from the main topic. If you miss a class, you're pretty much screwed. Not very helpful, makes students feel dumb when they ask questions. Again, DO NOT TAKE, worst math professor I've taken at tcc (coming from an A/B student who loves math)
