You won't be forced to learn a whole lot, so just don't take him in preparation for more advanced stuff with another prof. Take him for that which you may not have to use a whole lot of in the future, but want an easy A. Or to do basically nothing and get a C most likely.

Comment:
Professor Wene is old so he is hard to understand most of the time and he looks down at the ground a lot. He doesn't do many examples with actual numbers he usually just gives the standard equations and shows how it is derived a lot of the time. He was very nice though and usually very happy and tried to make a lot of jokes to keep the class alive.

If you are a first time calculus student, do not take this class. Professor Wene is an abysmal teacher. Your grade is based on tests, and although there is homework they don't affect your grade.

Professor Wene is a really nice guy and he is very willing to try and help you, however he is the most boring lecturer I have ever seen in my life! Also it is almost impossible to read anything he writes. He seemed very unprepared for each class. But he curves the grades a lot! I would probably not take him again, but he was not to terrible overall

This class has a lot of emphasis on proofs. My suggestion is to take someone else if you want to learn more/or are a math major. His classes are long and very painful to sit through. I Like him because he will tell you what you need to know for exams. He is very nice with points also. If you want learn something, look elsewhere

Mr. Wene is nice, he gives you a big pdf file, if you want to learn anything just lookup the PDF file answers. I learned a lot because I was constantly looking up the theorems in the PDF file. You don't have to show up to class, you wont learn much. Do use the PDF there you will learn a lot. Your own research is your best friend in this class.

Dr. Wene is the worst math teacher i've every had. His lectures are pointless. He mumbles and has terrible handwriting- he writes in chalk so it makes it worse. He explains nothing and goes over tests before giving them back. He takes weeks to grade them as well. He assigns homework but never collects it or grades it. Your entire grade is 3 tests.

Dr. Wene is a very nice professor and is willing to work with you to improve your grade, but he doesn't know how to teach at all. He's actually a fairly easy grader but you won't learn anything from taking him. Take Foundations when he's not teaching. Anyone taking lower-level math classes should take another professor.

You won't learn much in the lecture. He can be difficult to follow so you have to seek help with tutors or reach out to him outside of class. There is no book to refer to either, just a big pdf file that won't help much. Kind of a tough grader, but usually drops a test.

This was literally the most adorable teacher that I have ever had. He is super old though and kinda hard to understand at times. I had taken calculus in high school so I found his class very easy, but I know that kids who hadn't taken calculus before struggled in the class.

Wene is old but super nice. He wasn't very clear because of how old he is. I took calculus before so the class was pretty easy. But if you have never taken calculus before, take another professor

Dr. Wene really is a nice guy with good intentions, but I think its about time for him to retire. No one knows what the hell he is saying because he talks so quiet and rambles on. He is SO disorganized. You will literally never know what chapter you're on because he doesn't keep to any sort of schedule. I only go to class so I can get the homework

Horrible and boring professor. Didn't do anything the whole semester, because I didn't understand. Failed the two midterms. Helped on the group project and ended up with a C.

As a confusing lecturer (not clear, organized, or careful) people would think that his tests are hard. They aren't. I put in medium effort and received an A. However, now that I'm in the next class (Foundations of Analysis), I feel that I'm underprepared and I'll be spending the next few weeks catching up. Nice guy, not a good professor.

People may say what they say about this professor, but his reviews for tests are basically repetitive test questions from previous semesters which he lets you see. There is an essay to write over a book which he gives everybody either an A or B. End of the year project is mostly an effort to see what you can produce, it is actually pretty fun.

Comment:
Dr. Wene's course is a little too light. He moves through the foundations too quickly, in order to encourage interest, rather than taking the time to give you a solid understanding. The course is also extremely disorganized. Homework was 20%, but only one assignment was ever taken up, and it was last minute, which hurt many students' grades. Avoid.

This is a difficult class that requires you to do proofs. Mr Wene is very nice, but he does not explain very well and his writing is difficult to understand. You will find yourself looking up info. that he did not explain well. There is no book for this class which makes it that much more frustrating. He does work with you!

This class is a complete waste of time. He basically hands out grades. There's not much to take from his courses. Expect a decent grade with minimum effort. If you're excited about learning mathematics look for another professor.

He is nice. This guy is so disorganized and his lectures are all over the place. The only reason I understood what he was doing was because I knew the material before. If you don't understand basic proofs, don't sign up for this class. He does offer a bunch of extra credit. Thus there is no excuse to fail this class unless you're just lazy!

He does not go by the syllabus at all, i really did not learn much bc he rambles on during his lectures. The book is confusing and doesnt help much if you don't know what you're doing. Expect to be teaching yourself and getting tutoring if math is not your subject. Tests are 4 questions, he gives two during the semester
