Comment:

I really enjoy him as a teacher. He definitely knows what he's talking about, but he is cocky. It's sometimes intimidating because if you mess up, he will call you out on it. I honestly think he wants the best for his students. Conducting is tough, and he expects you to work really hard to master it. If you don't, he has no patience for you.

He's a wonderful teacher in that he abandons the textbooks and teaches what really matters about conducting, but can at times come off as crueler than he intends to. He's a pretty funny guy, but sometimes tries too hard.

If you want a good grade, you have to work for it. But there is a lot of "playing favorites." He is arrogant and always focused on himself.Attitude is that his way is the right way and the only way. If you have him in choir, it's because he LET you in his very small, select group..Collegiate. He uses fear to get results, NOT a teacher I admire.

Dr. Dahlman is an excellent professor, and like many profs, he responds to students based on the effort they put in to his ensemble. He is quick to call out students that either don't care, or that are errogant and critical of their fellow students. I always put forth my best effort in his ensemble, and have never had an problems with him.

Dr. Dahlman is a pompous, arrogant, self-absorbed, power hungry professor. He conducts the top choir at Wright State and evidently his only priority in life is the best sound conceivable by his chosen few. Actually teaching is not a priority of his. If you cross him, you are DONE! However, if you can kiss his shiny side you've got it made.

He can be nice but if you try to work with him, he is completly unreliable. Very good at what he does, but he knows it too. Very arrogant and will call you out in class and embarass you. He says it's to help you, when all it does is make you afraid to sing.

Dr Dahlman is great! He can be a lot of fun to be around if he is given the opportunity. He doesn't put up with crap, but is willing to work with you at the same time. He is extremely helpful, and only expects your best effort. If you try to just slide by he is going to give you a harder time. He is always willing to help take all you can from him

This class was not very helpful. No one uses Turabian writing anymore! He made us write papers and then measured them with a ruler and if you were off by 1/4 on an inch he would take off points!

I will concede that dr dahlman is an intelligent and talented man. However he is the most arrogant self centered person on earth. His treatment of students is unexcusable. His reputation for unpleasentness has chased away potential students, faculty, and music patrons. Its a shame such talent was wasted on such an awful person

Dr. Dahlman knows his stuff when it comes to directing the womans chorale. The only things I don't like about him are that he teaches the music ed. majors in the class techniques during class and has students direct the group at times.
