Dr. Ding is possibly the best teacher at SLU. I read with disdain all the negative reviews about him, most of which were probably written by buffoons stymied by his Chinese accent (which does not at all hinder his effective communication if one actually TRIES to listen). Dr. Ding is simply excellent.

Dr. Ding is incredible. By far the greatest teacher that I have ever taken. Taking his Calculus I class was the best decision I have made while at St. Louis University.

Prof Ding is a tough teacher and it is hard not to like his class for the first couple weeks. However, after couple weeks you can easily understand him and you will know what is going to be on the tests. If you do the homework, you will do well. His tests are exactly from the homework and notes in class so it is your fault if you don't do hw/notes

Worst professor ever. Couldn't understand him; even went in a few times after class for help. Useless. Pay attention to problems he does on the board before the test; you'll see them again. Plan for at least one problem from left field that you'll just have to wing. Get ahold of old tests if possible.

Dr. Ding is absolutely brilliant. Disregard the negative comments here (particularly the previous one--I too thought that he didn't know anyone's name since he never asked and doesn't pass out tests individually, but when I went in and asked to see my final, he found it in his files without even asking for my name).

Ding is a very nice man; he just really cannot teach. Homework isn't graded so it is really hard to make yourself do it, however, it is necessary. Student-teacher involvement is null as well. In a class of 20, he couldn't tell you one student's name. I would not recommend him by any means.

Avoid Him! If you take this class you are basically Shooting yourself in the Foot. He is impossible. Can't understand what he is saying. He hates to give partial credit so when he grades your test you better get it right if not sorry. I loved math. now i absolutly can't stand it . Do not take Do not take Do not Take! IT is for your own good really!
