I found the course objectives to be extremely unclear. After finishing the course I still didn't know what it was about, or what I was supposed to have learned. The best part was when he moved back to Vancouver and took all our essays. We had to complain directly to the school, and we ended up getting our final marks in late January.

He's really down to earth, and keeps it interesting with movies and other content to give the course matter relevance. Again, he really helped ease us through the readings which are very theoretical and generally difficult, so I'm glad for his efforts there! Sometimes he loses his vein of speech and makes it hard to understand, but whatever.

I think Prof. Nagy is one of the great thinkers of our time. I believe he has a lot to give to the field of communication. I think that there were a few instances where there was a communication disconnect. Slides very confusing, short form hard to decipher. I thought the course texts were too theoretical.

Prof Nagy is fantastic. He is down to earth, friendly, and super knowledgeable. GO TO CLASS. He drops HUGE hints for the assignments/exams in class so if you're not there, you simply won't get them. He's relatively young so he knows what its like for the students. Readings are thick and dry. He does make an effort to make sense of them though.

This class is taught exactly the way every class should be taught-those who put in the effort are rewarded, those who do not are not. I loved this class. I found that the material slowly came together and those who stuck it out were rewarded w/ a depth of knowledge. I learned tons. trof is EXTREMELY knowledgable and helpful. This class was great.

Ian is an awesome guy; super nice and passionate about Comm, but his class was not very structured & at times it was hard to undertstand where he was going in discussions. The txts were DREADFUL. The most exciting part of class was the video component. Really good for relating things to real life. Take the class but be prepared and ASK QUESTIONS!!!

I thought this was a fantastic class. Mr. Nagy is a very down to earth man who is always open for suggestions by the students. He made a very conscious effort to get the students (us) really interested in what was being discussed -- absolutely no complaints/negative things to say.

The class was nothing like its description which was disappointing and hated the text books- hes a really nice prof but needs more structure to his lectures to make it easier for us to follow what he is trying to say.

This course was good! It hurt a little for it to be a night class...especially when it is a Pre-req for the Image politics + Persuasion concentration...and it HAS to be taken...late at night...However, the material was interesting. :)

Ian is the most personable and engaging prof I've ever had. This is the second class I've taken with him and it is a pity he will not be here at Carleton to inspire other students next year. He has gone above & beyond his duty in clarifying difficult concepts and being available for help.

Wow, such a great professor for an excellent course. He is extremely helpful and patient with all the student's questions, and is prompt at addressing issues with homework or course material over WebCT. Without a prof like Ian Nagy, the course material would have been dry. Using current and relevant media sources added to interest to classes.

I think Ian is a great prof! He has a fresh enthusiastic lecture attitude that really lightens the mood. I love coming to lectures! The videos he plays really help to connect ideas more than I think some people in the class realize. I love them...it gives the theory he discusses some modern grounding. Great Prof!!

Ian was great at teaching his concepts. Marking scheme was hard, exams were next to impossible, and focused the whole class around Bush and the Iraq war (topic of his PhD paper surprise surprise). Goes WAY out of his way to be helpful. Great guy. Really interested in what he teaches and HE is willing to learn. :)
