The accounting cycle is an important factor of your grade. Homework and reading is required BEFORE class because he goes over what you shouldve have learned then theres a group class assignment due at the end of class. Multiple choice. Homework due before he teaches it to make you struggle before coming to class so you ask questions. He wants you to learn but couldn't care less about your grade. Always available during his office hours to help. Tests are extremely difficult. Busted my ass, did homework, went to office hours, gave me a 68. Great guy though. Had 3.5 coming in smh

Ira Bates was a Terrible professor. I would NEVER enrolled in his class If I knew that any effort I made would be to No Avail. I took for Financial or Managerial Accounting and I did NOT learn one them from him. He does not know how to explain any material. He like to tell Lame jokes which are not funny for Attention. Find a Better Professor !!!

Dr. Bates is very funny! He tries to explain the chapters so that everyone understands it but intermediate is hard so you have to study! The class consists of online homework & online quizzes. There are four exams & an optional comprehensive final that replaces your lowest exam grade. I passed the first time I took the course so it’s possible.

Great professor. Extremely funny. Very helpful. His tests are straightforward and he is very well connected in the world of business. Do yourself a favor and get to know him! An 'A' won't be easy but no accounting class is easy!

Dr Bates is a great professor. Intermediate is a challenging course so if you do not study you will fail. I recommend taking him he will help you during his office hours if you need extra help. Also he will crack jokes with you and still fail you so being his friend is not enough to pass intermediate.

ur probably asking how can u be hard and clear at the same time?? well its just that intermediate is hard... but he does his best to explain it.. Funny teacher... sounds like an announcer or bill cosby... LOL avg score on 2nd test was 45... gives lots of work... so dont take him with other hard classes... GOOD LUCK!

Hmmmm i heard he was hard... and... HE IS. he gives a lot of work... including an assignment u have to bring to class that he doesnt collect for a grade, but if u dont then he will make u leave...happened to me once for me to learn he was serious. I think he explains things very well however; u have to express to him u need help.

Ira is cool as hell. HOWEVER, like they mentioned before, he will fail you and still be yours budy after that! The software that we had to do, ALEKS, SAVED MY LIFE! I ended up with a "C" in his class because of doing those things on time! He's not really good at explaining Accouting honestly.. but he's willing to help you if you need him!

I took him for Intermediate I: BEWARE!!! He tries to explain accounting, but its to no avail. I spent countless hours studying for his class. My first test I got a 67. After that i stopped paying attention in class and studied on my own. The next couple of tests I got over 100 each time. PLEASE KNOW YOUR MATERIAL!!! He will FAIL you and NOT care!

I love Bates, but it's Accounting people, Intermediate at that. If you do ALL of your home work and ASK QUESTIONS IN CLASS, UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM AND NOT THE ANSWER, than you will get a good grade. Bates has an open door policy and is always willing to help.

For those of you that take an "easy A" professor for Intermediate I, please tighten up beofre going to Dr. Bates class. He is expecting for you to have the basics down already, not for him to re-teach Intermediate I or Financial. He is very accessible and helpful when you make the effort. But he is definitely not "giving" any grades.
