She knows her craft. Her editing and structure really helps students form a more clear and well written work. Her exercises and experiences helped us understand what writing is really like. I had taken other fiction classes, but hers has helped me the most. Even though she related to caring students more, she understood my cold business writing.

I switched my schedule to take her based on the reviews here. It was a GREAT decision! She is AMAZING. She really pushes you to grow as a writer, but she does it in such a nonjudgmental way. The class interaction is helpful. Take her if you can!

This professor is the greatest teacher I've had, and I've had great ones. If you want to learn anything about literature or writing, take a class with her and listen, listen, listen. You'll need to remember every one of her words, her beautifully chosen words.

I have to say that I enjoyed her class. I learned a lot and got an A. But, my big disappointment is that when I asked her for a recommendation when applying for an MFA, she said "I'm really busy, can you ask someone else." I was disappointed because she always put great comments on my stories and gave me an A, so I didn't know why she'd be unwilling to write a recommendation for me. Overall: good class, but don't expect a rec.

Janet Peery is one of the most interesting professors in the English program. She has a lot of valuable information to pass on, and all you have to do is sit back and take it all in. Great teacher.

Janet Peery is a wonderful writer, has published some good books. She is a gifted teacher, kind, helpful, but really knows her stuff. I learned a lot in her craft of fiction class. If you didn't, you weren't paying attention, or aren't interested in learning how to write.
