Comment:
Here's why you should NOT take Dr. Horn. It's not that the lectures are bad or that any assignment is particularly difficult. It's the WORKLOAD. Classes are TWF. 50-page reading and associated discussion post due Monday, essay due Tues, group project due Wednesday and Presentation due Friday can happen. This WILL be your most time-consuming class

I could not be more sincere as to when I say Jeff Horn is the worst professor I could of possibly had. There is not one teacher in memory, since I could remember, that was as willfully difficult as Horn. He will make it his mission to make sure you are pulling your hair out while writing his papers and doing his assignments. Dont take him. Dont.

Great person but horrible grader. I was always in office hours and getting help on papers but no matter what he would always grade all our papers toughly. Would not take him again but he's very smart and knows a lot about the subject matter.

Horn is a teacher who wants to make a difference in the world, and this clearly shows. His lectures are very interesting and mind-blowing at times. However, a lot of reading and work, so you gotta work for it. He is very clear on what he wants, so follow that and discuss your papers with him, here you get what you work for.

He seems nice on the outside. He cares for his students. However, He gives stupid amounts of hw each week. He is available at his office a lot, but if you email him, prepare to get one-sentence, incomplete-sentences. He is more of an English teacher and less History teacher, yet doesn't give feedback on how to improve and expects you to write well.

While his lectures are very interesting and he's a great guy and professor, he's an incredibly hard grader. His papers were extremely hard to pass and he was very specific with what he wanted. He's accessible outside of class and office hours are a must but don't take this class if you're not a strong writer or care about history that much.

Best lectures ever. Tons of writing, but you'll improve beyond belief. Take if you want to learn not if you want an easy A.

I understand that tough professors can be a very good influence on students and encourage them to work as hard as they can be he takes it about five steps too far. Some of his directions seem strict for strictnesses sake. That he doesn't let you bring in your own primary sources on papers is mystifying.

Dr. Horn is a tough grader. When I took his class he assigned two essays and three take home exams. He would say that he doesn't intend to trick you but he expects a lot from the essays. The take home exams are less stressful then the regular exams. It is A LOT of work. Make sure to ask for help and DO NOT procrastinate.

Great professor, great guy, but he is a very tough grader. He was one of the best teachers I have ever had but he gives a lot of work and you have to go to his office hours, but he will give you what you put in and help you out. If your a history major he will be perfect, but your not, like me, then know his classes will be very demanding.

Dr. Horn is one of the most intelligent people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I won't lie, his class was incredibly difficult, but it changed how I think, and improved my essay writing for all my classes. You have to take notes during his lectures, but his lectures are very interesting. He lets you rewrite papers, gives very helpful advice.

Jeff Horn is an extreamly passionate teacher, he has a lower grade because a lot of freshman and people who just don't care get left in the dust on his essays. He cared more about education and what he teaches than any teacher I have ever had, I finished with an A- because I went to every extra credit event available and there are a lot.

I get it, he is smart and knows his history. But he is a perfectionist and thinks he is better than anyone. I would not recommend him to anyone. Just terrible, he will ruin your GPA. He takes points off the dumbest things and his essays and take home exams are difficult. I cried 24/7 because it was that bad.

Dr. Horn is an amazing professor. I had the privilege of taking him last semester in his 9am class. Although he's a hard grader he's always accessible and willing to help his students. The extra credits really do help you boost your grade up. His lectures are amazing. I am not even a History major but his class was the BEST class I've ever taken.

Stay clear of this professor. He is full of himself and his knowledge. He's such a difficult grader. Took his 150 class and it's the hardest class I've taken in my college career. Would NOT recommend.

I think that Dr. Horn will meet you at the level you meet him. He is an extremely tough grader, but that is only because he demands the best from his students. He will go the extra mile for your success so long as you do as well. He's has a wealth of knowledge on all things history, but expects you to get your facts straight. Be prepared to work.

I had Dr. Horn for Intro to History and as and advisor for two accredited internships. I got a B- in ITH at my first semester at MC and received As in the internship electives. He is by far the smartest, most inspirational man I've ever met. He has been a mentor and example to me though out my undergrad and grad experiences. A life changer!
