Went to class and read the text. The lectures didn't always align with the chapters. Offers a " final make-up" exam the same day you take the final , as if you don't already have other finals to prepare for. Avoid if you can!

There is only one thing she demands from you and that is your absolute best. She will treat you like the archaeologists that you plan to become. Be prepared to do alot of reading, writing, and researching.

Dr. Minar is very passionate about anthropology, and so she expects her students to actually learn/engage with the material. This is not a class where you can memorize key terms and pass. You have to carefully read and pay attention. If you are an Anthro major, she is highly recommended. She cares about her students, and will help you succeed.

Minar is a very direct professor. Has strict expectations but at the same time really cares about students' understanding of the topic. We had short quizzes almost every class meeting. 3 tests and a make-up, multi-choice and written. I opened the textbook only once. Studying the slides and papers are enough to pass the class. Attendance is crucial.

This class was honestly one of the harder classes I've taken at City. Still, Dr. Minar is awesome, and is clearly passionate about archaeology. If you need it, she's more than willing help you outside of class. Study guides/lectures are straight forward. If you're an Anthro major- take her! It can be challenging, but you'll learn so much more.

Dr. Minar is very knowledgeable about archaeology but she is a scatterbrained teacher. She's very emotional and constantly reminded our class what bad writers we all are. If the whole class fails your strange writing assignments all semester, you may be the one at fault.. I got a B but half the class did not pass. AVOID!

Shes a cool teacher. She expects a lot. Her tests are very hard. She is a tough grader. By the way she gives out quizzes. So good luck and make sure you know your stuff. Most of your points are the test. I would not take her again/

This was the worst class I've ever taken. The only things she grades are 4 tests and a paper. She gives "study guides" for the tests which are extremely abstract and looks like she just took chapter titles and made that into a question. If she doesn't like you she's very rude, especially if you aren't an arch major. Avoid this class if you can

I came back just to write a second review! She is the best professor I have ever taken at city. Anthro isn't even my major, but I took her class and lab and I can tell you she actually cares. Strict and expects a lot out her students like a teacher should. I left feeling very positive knowing that I actually acquired knowledge from a professor.

I'm currently enrolled In two of Dr. Minar's classes (Anth 1 & Anth1 Lab). I can say she is an excellent teacher. She knows, understands, and can teach the material. She is crystal clear on what she expects from her students, makes it very easy to understand and pushes students to learn.

Dr Minar drives you hard because she expects quality and she knows what's expected of you in her field of work. She prepares you for the heavier workload of Uni I had some really bad happenings during the semester, and my mental health was in danger and she was nothing short of amazing about it. She was concerned, and will do her best to help.

I would never recommend this class. I am a great student, I fully understand the material; however, she encourages critical thinking but her version of critical thinking is repeating back her own thoughts and ideas. She is reluctant to give ideas of expectations but holds high standards for students. Did not provide clarity when I asked questions

She's a great instructor! Teaches material in an approachable manner and is readily available to respond to questions and concerns. Utilize office hours is you need to. 3 exams and a packet project. Class is not as difficult as it seems just because it contains the prefix "bio". Very general and not too deep on concepts. Do study and try though.
