Comment:
Dr. Essid goes out of his way to brutally offend students. He will call you out in front of everyone if you make any sort of minor mistake, and makes you feel horrible and incompetent. If possible, avoid any of his classes, for your own mental health and well being. He truly only cares about himself.

Comment:
I read a story once about a man who would leave out 5 single dollar bills on the table as the tip for his waiter. Every time the waiter did something the man did not like he would quietly take a dollar away. That is what Essid's class is in an essence.

Comment:
I took two classes with Dr. Essid this past semester and ENGL 383 was a significantly different experience. I felt that the expectations and guidelines for our commentary was very confusing, but once we all figured it out for ourselves, the class was pretty easy. The midterm felt somewhat pointless and the final was essentially the same assignment.

Dr. Essid is an excellent professor who genuinely cares about the success of his students. He has unusual beliefs, but he is tolerant and interested in the opinions of others and takes all viewpoints seriously. He engages with his students in order to make them not only better writers, but better students overall.

Best professor ever. Caring, funny, and extremely intelligent. Will challenge you to do your best work and think outside the box. Does not put up with laziness. If you work hard, however, he rewards you. I took his Writing Center training class - he does grade that a bit easier than his other classes, but he is fair and always available to help.

Dr. Essid is an awesome professor. He is very engaging and really helpful. You do a lot of writing and sometimes he grades tough, but you will never get a grade and not know why you got it. The class was really helpful too. The final project is very lengthy and hard.

My favorite professor so far! He balanced our reading assignments with movies. Very interested in the wellbeing of each student. Tough but fair grader, he can tell if you wrote a paper the night before! He emphasized the value of experiential learning; my favorite assignment was the road trip paper. My idea of a true liberal arts-style eacher!

I had the chance to communicate with him in Spanish. Really nice guy, who is not only academically engaged, but also keenly intersted in the welfare of int students. I was glad to hear that he is interested in visiting Bulgaria. Even funnier, he thought I was a grad student, what a great compliment. I really loved the Spanish talks.

A great professor. He always makes sure that everyone knows the details of each assignment. He is really interesting and very passionate about writing. He is a very tough grader, but at least he tells you what you did wrong and he prefers to meet with you about each paper.
