Hard class and I don't think he makes it any easier. A paper to hand in every week so you have to read the several essays he assigns for the next class day. A 15 page paper to hand in at the end of the semester, midterm and final exams are all essay type - the amount of questions to answer is determined on the day of the exam. Avoid taking him.

If I could I would change my major to philosophy. Very attractive intellectually and physically(to me ) . I would love to sit and speak to him about philosophy among other things.

He is an extremely nice guy and good professor!! His class is interesting. He is also extremely helpful and easily approachable so don't be lazy and ask for advice when it comes to writing the paper. I found the tests very fair because they were all essays. (definitely doesn't care if you come late)

He may know about philosophy but he knows nothing about science! He stood there nodding while two people argued about science, agreeing with both. He keeps on knocking into things, which is good for a laugh but his tests are ridiculous! He graded hard and refused to listen when shown that his question was misleading. And I still dont get the class!

He is really a great phil professor, he explains the hardest topics so well and you really learn a lot from him. he is also a really nice guy, very easy to talk to and very helpful. he is a bit anal with lateness and his exams are hard, but he gives a nice curve at the end

Adler is a good guy. This class isn't easy but neither is the subject matter. He goes over everything about 15 times which is good if you didn't get it and bad if you did. When all is said and done though, he really knows his stuff, he wants you to do well and if you show some effort he'll take care fo your grade.

He is a hard grader and talks to much. He does not give you credit when you participate. If you have to take this class do yourself a favor and don't take it with this professor.

I learnt a lot in this class, though I think he grades unfairly. Class participation and discussions should pull more weight in a philosophy class. His MULTIPLE CHOICE tests are extremely confusing! Philosophy should be open to debate - essays should count more than MC answers. Handwriting nearly impossible to read - must write quickly to keep up.

Don't take him if you decide to read/study last minute before the exams. He's anal with lateness, so be punctual. I've also noticed that he seems bias, in favor towards the female's in the class. Although, he's arrogant and a hard grader, I will admit he knows a lot about what he's teaching so take him if you're serious about Phil.-ONLY!

I had this prof back in 2002 for Psych of Artificial Intelligence. It was actually the same course in the depts of CIS and Philosophy. Well, he's not bad. He gave us extra credit assignments and the Final was a Take Home! But as for the cons, his handwriting is atrocious and readings are annoying.:)

I don't recommend this professor unless you share his outlook and opinions. If you don't you may be frustrated like I was. Didn't seem to be too tolerant of others' opinions. He is a VERY strict grader and his multiple-choice exams are extremely confusing.

similar to others', his handwriting is close to illegible, BUT he makes sure that you know everything he's trying to teach you. The guy is extremely smart and will answer most questions with great examples that he comes up with off the top of his head

This man is one of the most confused professors I've ever had. He constantly contradicts himself, his diction and handwriting are terrible, and his tests are annoyingly difficult. If you can't avoid him, make sure you speak up in class. Argue. A LOT.
