Comment:

He is easily the worst professor I've ever had. I understand that this is a higher level science class, but you know a teacher is bad when the average on all the tests is in the 50s. I had to learn everything from the book. Test questions don't always come from the book. Avoid this teacher at all costs.

Comment:

Easily the worst professor I've ever had. AVOID. No extra credit. Class average going into finals is 58%. Doesn't stick to syllabus even remotely, so don't count on that. He's impossible to communicate with. Go to class and sign the roll. Quiz questions come from end of chapter review questions. *hunger games whistle*

This class sucked. To me, this was ten times harder than Anatomy because with Anatomy, you have a general idea of what you need to do in order to succeed. Not for this class. And the professor, ugh. There was no direction. I've never been so frustrated in my life; I almost started a petition. But I did survive and he curves slightly at the end.

He doesn't teach. He is a nice guy but can't seem to put one helpful piece of information in his lecture. The study guides given are very long and not the most helpful. The tests are difficult and he usually doesn't give a final because he is so far behind the schedule there isn't time for one. BUT i hear Kuddus is worse so... good luck to you.

Dr. Kirsi is really funny. He's very nice and willing to work with students. However, he has a hard time staying on schedule with lecture. We didn't cover a lot of chapters because we were so far behind. I took this class in a summer block and I wouldn't recommend that to anyone. There's too much material to digest and memorize in too little time.

LOVED Kirsi, hated his quizzes and tests. Kirsi is an enjoyable teacher who loves to teach. He struggles with staying on task, but he is hilarious. Quizzes after every 2 chapters and a test after every 4. His tests are insanely hard. READ the book - but that doesn't help. His study guide-doesn't help. The online quizzes & book questions-don't help!

This is a hard class. He doesn't lecture very well, but you need to go to take quizzes. He got super behind in our class, so things got really rushed at the end. Quizzes and tests are difficult, sometimes ridiculous. He will drop a test and some quizzes. Do the reading, study test banks and the book's website. A lot of work, but you learn a lot.

This was the single hardest class I have ever taken in my entire life. Read your book and ask a lot of questions and build up your ability to think outside the box, think through problems, think on the micro and macro scale of cause and effect. Kirsi is extremely knowledgeable about his subject and is always willing to help.

I love Dr. Kirsi. His accent is funny and he is hilarious. For quizzes, do the online questions from the website and memorize the answers at the back of each chapter. For tests, he says to look at the animations and memorize the charts and you will pass. FALSE. I studied my butt off and only got 70%-80%. Luckily his grading scale is fair. 76%=B-

Dr Kirsi is not too difficult to understand with the accent, the problem is that everything from the test is in the book not his lectures but if you aren't in class & just read the book you'll be lost too! Just don't underestimate this class!

great guy as others have noted he has an accent but so what it wasnt hard to understand the guy. READ THE BOOK! lectures we only somewhat helpful when taking the tests. curve built into tests and allows you to study old exams for final.

Dr. Kirsi is a great professor and wants you to succeed. My best advice is to study with his TA before you take each test and READ THE BOOK. If you don't understand he will answer questions and go at your pace. Funny guy,and he has a thick accent. I didn't have problems understanding.

Comment:

Microbiology is a tough class, but Dr. Kirsi is a very fair teacher. There is a built-in curve on every test and quizzes are easy if you read the questions at the back of the book and online. You have to keep up on the reading in class in order to do well on the tests.

You can't understand him with his super strong accent. Going to class is useless because he doesn't talk about anything that's on the tests or quizzes. Incredibly hard class, I would've expected it to be a very high upper level class.

He takes roll everyday but going to lecture is pointless except when he gives quizzes, which he'll usually announce. Tests are hard but if you read the book and do the online questions that will help. He lets you go study previous tests before the final and half the final is questions directly from those tests. Hard class, but lab was fun.

I Loved this class!!! It was so interesting and Kirsi was willing to help if you showed an interest in the class. It was the most interesting class I have ever taken, and sure it was hard, but this is microbiology at a university people!! It's going to be difficult
