Comment:

I have a 4.0 GPA and have never had a problem with challenging professors, but this teacher is HORRIBLE. During the lectures, he called us stupid compared to university students and said how we shouldn't help disabled people because it's ruining natural selection. I was able to make a B on the first test, but dropped because I couldn't stand him.

The best teacher Iv'e ever had! Extremely knowledgeable.You don't need the book. Tests are directly from his outlines. You have to put in effort, but it's worth it. His lectures are always interesting.

Dr. Joe is a good professor who expects university level quality and work from his students. Therefore - this class is anything but easy. You MUST take good notes and study hard. If I had more time to work on his class an A would have been possible. The book is NOT needed. A good work ethic and strong study skills are needed.

I enjoyed having Dr. Joe as my teacher! Lecture and lab are super easy. You just have to study really hard to make good grades on the tests because this course does cover a lot of material. He drops one lab and lecture test (there are 4 each), and there are extra credit opportunities on each lecture test. I definitely recommend taking him!

Dr. Joe is an amazing teacher! He knows way too much about everything, he relates biology to other external subjects which makes it only more interesting. Yes, it is true that you have to pretty much memorize his notes but hey atleast he is giving you the notes and you know what to study, the book isn't really necessary, just read over the notes:)

This man is brilliant. There are no other Biology teachers who could compare to his level of knowledge. If you are looking to go further in Biology, this is the man to take. When students ask questions in class, Dr Joe knows everything. Top lab teacher. Goes over everything with you in lab. Puts extensive diagrams on board. Super professor.

I had Dr. Granata for ZOO & A&P yrs ago. As in like 25 yrs ago. VERY intelligent man, def. wants his students to be successful, def. been teaching long enough to tell who is there to learn & who is there to warm a seat.

Honestly, I cannot say I really enjoyed his class all that much. He is an interesting man, but his tests require memorizing every single aspect of his notes. If you know the notes, then the tests are a breeze and have thirty extra points on every test. Just be prepared to study like crazy if you want to do well.

You have to memorize an immense amount of information, but its so worth it due to how much he knows about everything. He literally had an answer for every single question I asked. You have to study/memorize every single word of his notes, but you only have to read his notes for the tests-which are straight from the notes. Its worth all the studying

Late daily, doesn't let you see your old tests, insanely hard tests based upon his notes (not the textbook), etc and in short, the worse professor I have ever had. Yes, it is a hard class, but you will not receive a quality course with him. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.

Great teacher, very informative in his subject, and he has a true interest in biology. I've never had any interest in science, but I thoroughly enjoyed his class. Tests are hard, and he does go off topic often, but what he talks about is in his tests. Take detailed notes and study hard. Don't take him if you want an easy grade though.

This guy is a joke! Shows up late (everyday), shows useless pictures for half the class, and reads everything from his blackboard notes. Stay away! What a waste of time, money, and effort!

As soon as he walks into lecture he starts spewing information through monotone monolog that has probably been his shpeel for a couple of decades. That part of the course was unbearably hard to absorb and to get a question answered. Although he is helpful in the labs! I passed every practical but the tests on the other hand were extremely difficult

Excellent teacher. Very engaging, I hated biology and every science class before I took his class. he is very funny and very informative. He is able to relate biology to your everydaylife which is extremely helpful. Yes it is a but of studying but you gain so much from his class, its worth it!

Took his Zoology course last semester. I must say his class was the most interesting and exciting I've ever taken. I learned so much and he has so many amazing stories to tell. BUT he is very strict about his tests. They are long, you must memorize weeks ahead to pass, and they are often tricky. Still he is a great teacher to learn from.

AWESOME TEACHER!!! Im took him for 5week summer session. I dont know if it's because Im a BIO major...BUT I LOVE this man! Yes...test are hard! You learn to appriciate and respect Dr.Joe. GO to SI...tremendous help:)

The most difficult teacher I have ever taken from! Zoology labs were awful; we were given slides to look at and had to identify things on them that we weren't ever shown in class and weren't even told to look up! His lecture notes were ok, most of class time he spent reading them though. I'm a 3rd semester A/B student, this class was my only C!
