Liisa galea is honestly the most useless professor I have seen at UBC. she is super disorganised, goes back and Forth on what she explains, jumps onto a new topic without any explanation. she is honestly so bad that I had to come here and write this review. she must be a great researcher but she is the worse prof. she does not know how to teach.

Liisa is not on your side. She will never go above and beyond for her students, only for research. She is poorly organized and did not keep the class informed. She objectifies and discards anyone who does not conform. Do not fall on her bad side or she will make your life miserable. She lacks the ability to genuinely care and should not be at UBC.

Dr. Galea is incredibly knowledgable, but it didn't translate that well too her teaching abilities. Her lectures, while entertaining, were very disorganized. It was really hard to determine what was expected from students as guidelines or rubrics weren't really given. She was super laid back though, so things like deadlines weren't too concrete.

Interesting course! She's very opinionated and really loves what she does. There are no free marks really, but this is a 400-level neuroscience course. She makes you think and uou will learn a lot! Don't need to worry about your mark as long as you put effort in.

Terrible organization! She has high, but unclear expectations. There is a midterm, paper and presentation. I think she would be clearer by posting an example of a "good" paper, and by giving the first presentation to show what a "good" talk looks like. Half the class was better at lecturing than her. Great researcher, great person, awful prof.

Rambles off topic, super disorganized, grading criteria were unclear and changed during the term. Very fixated on sex differences, course content is all over the place. Midterm was unreasonably long. On the other hand she's chill and jokes around. Would avoid taking a course with her ever again though.
