The class as a whole isn't bad. He has a heavy accent though so at first he may be hard to understand. You get used to it though. I heard he was a tough grader but I didn't have a problem and I usually got the grades I deserved. One time I didn't do too great on a test and he gave me a blank test and let me revise it for a higher grade.

The class was really easy. He gives out a study guide with everything you need to know for both the tests. If you miss a class, there is not a lot of information that you will miss that you can not just look up online once you get the study guide

Easy class if you attend, but its hardly worth attending because he is so difficult to follow. He does expect high attendence. 2 easy tests, 1 6-8 pg. paper, and a 3 min presentation. Study guides for the test are given in advance, and cover absolutely everything on the test.

His accent can be a but difficult to understand at first, but he teaches the material in a way that makes it interesting. You can tell that he is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the subject matter that he teaches. So good i took another one of his classes just because he was the professor.

Cheng is really not that hard to understand once you get used to him. He repeats himself a lot and does his best to make his points clear. Gives reasonable tests that ask nothing more than what's on the study guide. Essays and presentations are pretty easy. Expects you to do the reading, but really doesn't ask anything unreasonable of students.

A very nice guy. He gives you an outline before each test, just fill that out and study it for an easy A. A little hard to understand in lectures, but outlines are helpful - just Google those instead of going to class.

Very nice, but hard to understand. His accent is thick and you REALLY have to listen (I could not understand a lot of key words he used.) He also is not a good grader. I got an A and someone else in my class got a C. We had the SAME answers! You can get a good grade and not go to class, but you must study when the time comes. I would NOT recommend.

This guy was horrible, a friend and I had nearly identical tests and I got an A- and he got a D. We went to him to complain and he offered my friend a C- for the same test got an A- for. Ridiculous grader not helpful at all! Do not take his class!

After the first week, you get used to his manner of speaking and you won't have any trouble understanding his lectures. His essays ask your views on the text and are actually fun to write. He's a nice guy and makes the subject interesting. I was scared to take a 300 level history class on a subject I knew nothing about, but I'm not worried anymore.

It's great to have a teacher FROM the country that he is from! Prof. Cheng is unfairly criticized for his accent, but I have easily understood every word he ha spoken this class. The text is fun to read, and besides the main one, you don't need to worry about the other ones. He is willing to listen to student imput, and he also throws in jokes

I took him several times. After I graduated and got a job a history teacher, I asked him to come and be a guest lecturer...and he did it. He is a nice guy. His class is easy.

Prof. Cheng is a great professor. Sometimes it is difficult to understand him because of his accent but you get used to it. His tests are easy, you don't need to read the books, and his papers are easy. He gives the answers to the test during the reviews. Basically go to class, take notes and get and an A.

He is probably the worst teacher i've had so far in college. Tests are fairly easy, but he DOES NOT grade fairly..especially on papers. Takes off points in the tests and when asked about it he can't even tell you why he took them off. I wouldn't take him!

I was snoozing in this class. The textbook was probably more intersting than his lectures. I think I got more out of it than the class. He's a relatively easy professor, funny, and very nice. Gives a few easy tests and two easy essays. His accent tends to confuse people, but you get used to it. His class boosted my GPA.

I love this guy. Can't understand a word he says but nice, helpful, and really comes off as wanting to have you gain something from his class. Once you understand his cantonese accent, your golden. I slept through the class and got a B- so no worries.

i had no clue what he was saying half of the time, and he really just wasnt that interesting at all...in my opinion, not a fair grader on tests...on one question I wrote complete nonsense and he gave me full credit, then on another I wrote 4 paragraphs and left one detail out and everything was wrong
