Spent the first three weeks defining history, actually had us define it. Shows up late, and keeps us 15 minutes after class, mind you this was a night class. Over half the class dropped, wish i had done the same. Wish i had read her reviews prior to taking the class. Save yourself the headache, no way to get an A with her.

Comment:

Professor Lubow teaches one of the toughest History classes I have ever taken, that much is accurate. But the people ranking her low are just too immature to handle a legitimate college-level History class. You must understand and apply concepts and context, not just regurgitate lecture, so grow up and take good notes and you'll do fine! No Easy A.

I took her class 2 years ago and I'll tell you this lady makes you work for it. Tests are only in form of essays, I believe it was 4 essays total. History is everything that happened now from primary and secondary sources. She drilled that into our souls. Very interesting lectures, she is very passionate but class is tough as nails.

It's been 4 years since i took this class but it was such a traumatic experience that to this day i remember this evil lady. GCC is such a great community college it blows my mind how Lubow still has a job. I would rather get a mike tyson punch to my groin every night before i sleep than to sit through another lecture with this lady.

If you are a nerd and study for like 10 hours a day, then you would be fine. This class is the most infuriating class i have ever been in. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you take another professor otherwise you might just do the biggest mistake in your life if you decide to take her class!

History is taught through her morals and views. Nothing else matters only she tells and knows the truth. Although she's the one late, she will keep the class 15 mins after the finishing time. If you leave early she will put you on her watch list. Don't remind her about breaks, either. Hard core activist don't make good Teachers or Professors.

I wish I would have read the Ratings before I took this teacher. If u call her a teacher. She is horrible. Has her own personal & political views &?nothing else matters. Talks about nonsense & not much about American history. I have learned nothing from her. She spends time talking about her history & being an activist. She grades hard. The worst!

The lectures were extremely long and unorganized. She spoke to fast and hardly took the time to tie any of her own notes with our reading material. It was always a matter of guessing and putting it together on your own. The essays that she assigned were difficult. Most of the students dropped the class and it's no surprise when she wanted students to participate in her lectures but was so quick to shut your answers out. I think I only participated twice the entire semester because I was afraid of embarrasment. She's a nice lady but as a professor she needs to be more considerate and definitelty more organized and clear with her syllabus and time management.

Save yourself the headache. This teacher is inconsiderate of your time and effort you put in your assignments. You can try your hardest in a paper and it will never be to her standards. Notes and the book will not save you . Her lectures are all over the place and they are never enough to get a good grade on her assignments. I wish I had dropped.

The first week of class we talked about capitalism. The first chapter of the book is about the lives of African Americans in the United States. That tells you a lot about how accurate she is. I learned more about global warming than I learned history. I dropped her class with a W. DO NOT TAKE HER.

she is very hard teacher, expecting us to know everything, class started with 50 students, after the spring break , we are now just 15 students in the class . more than half dropped the class... no matter what you write in your paper, she will not except it and you will get an f ... good luck

Unclear expectations and a mess teaching the class. She often jumped off topic for 30+ minutes but expects us to know what she forgot to teach. She loves to be right/ tell you why you aren't. The class was supposed to cover present day- we didn't make it past the 1930's (we skipped WWI). Her essays were brutal. Want an A? DO NOT take this class.

It does not matter how hard I try to do my best. She is going to fail me and that is it. She makes me read chapters in the book but then we don't even discuss it on class because she expects you to learn it on your on time out of class. Once she spent 30 minutes off topic, gotta say it was a long break. I WISH I HAD NEVER TOOK THIS CLASS.

I felt like it was a high school class only cuz she talked so much. mixed taught would be a better professor maybe at a university. she expects a lot from the students when it comes to test time and creative writing. very unorganized. she spent 10 weeks talking about the native americans. that's not what history is all about. expect a "C" or lower.

A very poor instructor in all ways. Does not help or clarify anything inside or outside of class, including emails, other than basic answers to simply get you out of her face. Likes to grade very hard and unfairly in almost all her stuff. Don't even approach her about your progress as she likes to pick fights. After overkill, I didn't pass w/ a D.

I really do not recommend her. She's not helpful, she procrastinates, she doesn't give useful notes until last 15 minutes of class and she expects university essays and does not grade fairly. If your intention is to pass with a B or higher, don't take her. I got a C even though I pulled a total of 7 all-nighters just for her 3 essays.

Professor Llubow is an Excellent teacher. The class is very interactive and she cares about the students she teaches. The class may not be for everyone considering that many people don't like to be challenged and want an easy way toward a grade. Having said this, she doesn't teach to the test. You actually learn something and earn your grade.

At times she can be fun but most of the times she can get on your nerves. I regret taking her. Im getting maybe a low C and I tried so hard on my first essay.
