Professor Scala is very caring, helpful, and enthusiastic. Be ready to read that entire textbook for that entire semester. Weekly HW assignments and exams are based on the HW. As long as you attend the lectures, read the textbook, and TRY, you are good to go. Best of Luck!

Comment:

Very passionate in what he does. Expect HW weekly based on the textbook. If you read the chapters, you will do fine on the HW's and exams. Exams based on HW's. I recommend purchasing an e-text to search keywords/terms. If you received a low grade, its probably because you didn't READ or didn't care. He is very fair. Gives good advice on life, avn.

Professor Scala is so passionate and knowledgeable about aviation in general, you will learn a lot from his lectures. He will give you a LOT of assignments but if you submit them on time you'll be good. Pleas Make sure you read the chapter before class and be on time!

Honestly, Professor Scala needs to retire. No one knows what he is talking about and each class was the longest hour and 15 minutes of my day. He expects you to know everything and will randomly call on you at times to answer. 7 exams total, including 2 finals. 25 assignments (papers) up to 500 words each. I learned nothing in this class.

Terrible. Frequently confused on what class hes teaching, aggressive when students don't know what ever acronym he's spit out. Frequently puts out obsolete/incorrect information then tests you on it. 2 FINAL EXAMS- one on his nonsensical class rants, one which he calls the AABI . No way to avoid him in the aviation program. Pray that he retires.

Lessons are nothing short of prolonged rambling nonsense that make you really reevaluate just how bad you really want your degree. He teaches nothing and then gets upset when you don't know the answers to his questions. 0/10 DO NOT take unless madatory!

Scala is terrible, he is all over the place with his lessons and expects you to know everything about aviation. He gets aggressive when you dont know the info he expects you to know but didnt teach yet. I would never take a class with him again unless it is mandatory. Absolutely worse Professor there is, he should be replaced.

Scala is a great person , but that doesn't mean he can teach , his lessons are all over the place . If you are on his good side , you'll pass. Honestly i did not learn anything in his class . Exams are based off his review sheets .

Students at Farmingdale want it easy, sometimes you actually have to put the effort in as well: That's what college is for, don't just put it all on the professor. Honestly if you read and do want professor Scala tells you to it's an easy A. You just have to show him that you actually care about what you are learning. READ THE DAMN TEXTBOOKS

I will say, if you reach out to him and you work hard, he will bend over backwards to help you with your career, but as a professor, 10/10 would not take a class with him unless required. He can sometimes get passive aggressive and will often present the wrong information, and then will argue if you try to correct him, and it's super frustrating.

Professor Scala has been teaching for over 20 years. He is a great professor of aviation studies and a great human being. I had the pleasure of been his student at Farmingdale from '98 till my graduation in 2005 with a minor in Aerospace Technology and a major in Aviation Administration. Throughout my years at Farmingdale, Scala was very supportive

Awful professor, do not take him if you don't have to. Does not care about his students or his own reputation for that matter. Gives tremendous amounts of work and expects you to know everything with little guidance and effort. Expect to learn almost nothing from him.

This professor is terrible, if you are not REQUIRED to take him, don't. Professor Scala assigns loads of work, no real criteria and doesn't even have the decency to check the assignments - just makes sure you do it to the required length. You are basically left to do all the guest work for exams as he does not teach anything that will be on it.

Worst teacher. All you do is write papers. No specific guidelines at all. You're on your own. 11 chapters for one exam and you have 4 exams so expect to read and he doesn't go over the textbook so you're on your own for the whole class

Aviation student at Farmingdale, I have had Scala before, he's a good person, unlike professor Gonzalez, but he is just not a good professor, he talks the whole time about nonsense and doesn't teach anything throughout the whole semester.

As an aviation student I've had Scala every semester for the past 4 years. Scala is good at talking, not teaching. If you're a new student reading this and you have an interest in aviation I would suggest you take a business management major before you dig in too deep.
