He was very knowlageable and didn't foce us to just regergitate information as is the norm now. He would give us practical lessons a lead great question answer sessions. This isn't the class if you like to sit in the dark corner and never say anything, he very much wants participation. Most engaging and interesting class I have had all 4 years.

Prof England is very knowledgabel, but not a very good teacher. I know he has a passion and understanding of sociology he just doesn't know how to conduct class discussions. There were a lot of readings for this class, but the midterm and final were take home. It is an easy A

I thought this would be a great course. It was the worst course I have ever taken. I wanted my money back. I really wanted my wasted time back. Grade were ridiculous, but I guess ridiculous assignments and readings deserve ridiculous grades. I think he's gone now which is all for the better.

Prof England is a really nice guy with some good stories, but he doesn't keep the class going like he should. He expects way too much class discussion when what students really want is to be taught. However, the books we read were phenomenal! The class is an easy A if you do the reading and get the gist of the class discussions.

I really liked his class. I felt like I was learning a whole lot at first, but that seemed to change as the semester went on. He is a very good man. I liked his Mexico stories. I understand sociology well partly because of his class. He taught concepts very well. Planning on taking another class from him.

He is the most awesome teacher. He is very easy. I feel like I learned the most out of his class than most classes I've taken because he does not make grades the concern. He is so lenient. He is very willing to work with students. He talks a lot about his experiences in Mexico--he does a lot of service down there. I highly recommend him. A+++

Worst class ever, no joke!!! Before this class, I was excited to learn about Sociology and at one point even considered making it my major; but NOT anymore. If you have to take Soc 113, take it from another teacher and you may even want to take an Anthropology course, but don't take anything from Edwin Andrus (he can act like a real jerk!).

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! PLEASE! You will be lost the whole semester - he doesn't tell you anything about what is required of you and you get no feedback on how you are doing. Grades are a complete suprise and very subjective. I would hope students who've had Lynn England would write the college about concerns they have concerning his methods.

Don't take this class unless you want to be bored for one-two whole hours. He mostly rambles the whole time, but does encourage students to talk. A lot of extra credit is offered, and he is an understanding guy, so at least the class is somewhat easy.

If you have no interest in learning, this is the wrong class to take. Dr. England knows his stuff, and teaches well. You just need to pay attention. You get the grade you deserve, and unlike most professors at BYU, Dr. England doesn't push for busy work.

Great professor as far as helpfulness. He can become your friend if you need one. Don't miss class. I mean great part of you grade comes from attendance and participation. If you are looking for A, this is the class. Just do all the assignments and be his friend. As far as his knowledge goes, he knows the subject but doesn't know how to teach.

It's really up to you what you want to get out of this class. His readings are horrendously long and most people don't even show up for the lectures. He doesn't demand much, but the take-home tests can take FOREVER. There's only two, though. There's no accountability except for that. If you're not expert on sociology, you'll feel left of lectures

Long lectures (esp when you have him for 2.5 hours at a time), but the take home exams are easy, especially with study groups. Very easy A if you do any kind of effort into the work. Im taking 2 more classes with him, cause he is so easy.

Professor England is of great value. He brings a perspective that should be heard at BYU. He is very smart and his take home exams are learning experiences. His lectures are boring for those who don't care.

The Midterm is a beast! And so is this teacher, they go together in beastiality. Remember in the Wizard of OZ, those signs that say "I'd turn back if I were you"? this is one of those signs. RUN LIKE THE DICKENS! This class will make you want to poke out your own eyes, and throw them at the teacher.
