Gave 8 assignments in the whole semester, and put all the grades in last moment. NO COMMENTS on the assignments to help us improve. The lectures are HORRIBLE, talks about random useless things. Extremely tough grader, you will not get an A. Horrible online teacher, do not recommend his class. I did not learn a thing, and almost failed.

Do not take this class. Ever. My grade was only based on essays. You will only get an A if you take the words out of HIS mind and put them on paper. Basically expects you to write a paper that he wrote himself. Impossible to get an A. His grading is so specific that the creators of Purdue Writing lab would dislike him. 0/10. DO NOT recommend.

I turned in an essay online but I accidentally used the wrong format. The essay was due 11:59 and I turned it in at 7. I emailed him at 7:30 so i can get my essay back and revise it but he denied me and said "its too late; you had plenty of time to fix it" but i still had 4 hours before it was due. This man gave awful instructions. DONT TAKE HIM!!

I took Professor Jamal for EGL1340 and honestly, I would not take him again. In hindsight, the class should be an interesting subject, but in the hands of Professor Jamal, it is a disorganized mess. He is a nice person, but a disorganized professor with unclear directions. In the end, I would not recommend him for this class ever.

I took this professor for EGL-1020, and EGL-2030. The one good thing that I will say about him is he takes the time to discuss each story or poem that your assigned. However, he spends way too much time on one reading, he always thinks he's right, and I would not recommend taking him. He is not clear on his essays, you must participate.

This professor is absolutely terrible, he is RUDE!! During COVID-19, he didnt give clear directions and when you email him about it he will insult you! I dont not recommend this professor at all!

Mr. Jamals class was by far the worst english class I have ever taken. He is horrible at communicating through email. He is unclear on his assignments. He can come off very rude/sarcastic when responding in class discussions especially now that were are all online due to covid-19. .I was very excited to take this class but now I really regret it.

Worst English Teacher ever, spend whole hour classes discussing one paragraph, or one stanza of a poem! you will have no idea what you are reading right and what's wrong because even though your giving your perspective and your answer in a English Class. he makes you not want to speak again, his grading is way worse. do not take and waste money.

this professor lacks people skills. he is RUDE! its better to not even participate in his class because when you do, he lashes out at your opinions and makes you literally not even want to speak again. he has absolutely no business teaching. hes a hard grader and even worse at keeping up with your paperwork. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

He is the worst teacher I have had in my life! He does not specify on what he wants for each assignment. I would not advise anyone to take him, he shouldn't even be teaching... in my opinion. I know everybody experience is different , but in this case nobody should take his class.

Awful professor. You can tell he's dedicated to the subject matter; however, he is slow, boring, and does NOT listen to anyone else's opinion. He says he wants to have a class discussion, but he dominates the conversation. If anyone can get a word in, he makes their insight seem stupid and wrong. WOULD NOT TAKE EVER AGAIN.

Worst professor I ever had!!!! All we did is read over stories and write papers. My class was two hours long, it had to be the longest two hours of life. He just talked and talked the whole class about nothing. I really feel like I didn't learn anything from being his class. Easy A but if you need hands on teaching DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!

I took his class twice now (1010, 1020), easy A.. we wrote 5 papers the whole semester. Spent most of class time reading stories for our papers. He's pretty chill, he makes corny jokes but its funny. Put in the effort and you'll pass just fine. He doesn't WANT to fail anyone. Show up and participate.

He didnt give out class work or home work but he expected for you to pass his quizzes And he doesnt give your work back till late and doesnt put it grades until the end and he doesnt have a answer for you when you ask about your grade. Grades hard on papers

Very good teacher. Always uses the book and follows syllabus unless he says otherwise. Always explains each story sentence by sentence. Interested in teaching the class and having students understand the stories/work

Sometimes he strays way off topic, more often than not. Occasionally goes into the book for reference, but doesn't solidly depend on the book. Didn't follow syllabus closely, which led to some confusion about due dates and what the work was about. If you're okay with that lax setting I recommend. If you need structure, don't take him.
