Comment:
Wants you to do well but does not make it particularly easy. He wants you to actually work and know the material, and if not, you will do bad on the assessments. If you do not attend class and read the notes you will be clueless and fail. If you just pay attention and do your work you will be fine. Six homeworks, three tests, one final.

Dr. Wilson is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met in my life. For this course, he wrote his own textbook (it's free) and sticks to it rather heavily (a good thing). If you make the effort to actively pay attention and put in the smallest amount of work, this class is a breeze. Having a good TA really does help as well.

Lecture is useless to go to besides the entertainment factor because Mark Wilson is so zany and uses extremely outdated jokes. His refusal to answer questions just shows that he is terrible at explaining concepts. I had no idea what was going on the last 10 weeks of class but ended up with a B... thank god for curves.

Class was REALLY EASY. Anyone who says otherwise did not take a second to try and learn the material outside of class. Mark isn't the best at explaining things in the world, but the book tells you everything you need to know. & even if you do not do well on the tests, the curve takes low B's to an A, so most people did fine.

Wilson is a good prof who means well. If you actually read the book, it goes right along with the lecture. Do the practice worksheets the TAs give you, and double-check your homework before you turn it in. Final was open note. Makes you think in a way that's different from other classes.

Non-Major... I learned most of what I had to on my own and didn't need help from the lectures, but i went to them anyway because I love how quirky this guy is. His outlandish jokes always made me laugh during the lectures. I only went to two recitations and the review sessions and ended up with a B+. Get a study partner and you're golden.

Wilson is an okay professor. Logic is sort of a hit or miss subject. Either you get it and put in the work or you don't and there's not a whole lot the professor can do. He actually made me laugh a few times in lecture with his outdated Archie comics examples. Dude is stuck in '55. Tests aren't bad if you master the practice sheets and homework.

Inconsiderate and disorganized. Fumbles around in lecture, causing everyone to fumble around on his overzealous and lengthy tests.

I had him for 20th century analytic phil and learned a massive amount. He can be unclear in class, but is very helpful if you talk to him after class or in his office hours. He made Quine somewhat understandable in an undergrad course which isnt the easiest thing to to. Take him if youre serious about philosophy, if not you will be lost.

Logic: Not an easy class, but the guy tries his best. It's really up to you and the TA's teaching as to how well you do in the class. I recommend befriending the TA. Wilson is funny, though, so go to class, laugh, get confused, and deal with is (I don't know if any professor can actually be good at teaching logic).

Mark Wilson has the distinction of being the worst philosophy prof I've ever had and I'm a major. Grades easily, but I never to knew what he expected on papers. I ignored the ratings because I thought He'd be different in a non-logic class, but the reviews are pretty spot on. If you take a class from him, expect to do your learning independently.

Mark Wilson is a very smart guy and a good teacher. People just don't realize that Logic is a horrendously difficult subject to teach, hence all of the bad reviews he has here... But he tries to be entertaining (you can laugh with him or at him, whichever you like), and he always seems to have a great TA...

This man was crazy, but fun. He reminded me of Doc. Brown from Back to the Future. Had it not been for this man, I'd never have learned whether or not I like Kumkwats when Brittany Spears does. Thank God for the TA... he was the one we learned from.

Worst professor ever. you don't get a book, just a packet of stuff he wrote. Expects you to already have a background in Philosophy to have any idea what he's talking about. My TA didn't speak English, so this was the worst class ever. Advisers always recommend it, but stay away!!

horrible professor. I too had a great TA that helped me through it. Wilson makes the class seem more difficult than it actually is. He is not helpful at all and class is a waste of time. Recitations were imortant.

Like others have already said, if it were not for Jeremy, I probably wouldn't have passed. Dr. Wilson, although knowledgeable, doesn't always have the clarity required to help people learn. As for helpfulness, clarity on his end was also a problem, as he took awhile to figure out what was actually being asked even though the question was straigh fo

This class was pretty pointless. He used the same few examples over and over. Like everyone else, the only reason why I passed was the TA, Jeremy Heis. The only good part of his class was all of our tests and final was open note and book.

The only way anybody gets a good grade in this class is because Jeremy Heis is a great TA. Mark Wilson is old, uses bad examples, dosn't speak well or have legible handwriting. Be prepared to do a lot of studying and practice to figure out the concepts you didn't understand in class...
