He's very passionate about film and you can really connect with him and his lectures if you are the same. If you skip class and don't care, you'll still pass, it's honestly not that serious. I really enjoyed his lectures and he picks good videos to watch.

This class is in a huge lecture room and is very distracting. It's an intro to film/filmmaking and film theory. The material is great, he chooses GREAT films to watch and is a great speaker! He actually cares about what he's teaching. Textbook will be important if you aren't familiar with film terms.

Really good professor. I've had classes with a lot of the professors in the CMS department and he was my best. I would highly recommend taking a course with him. There is a lot work to do, so if you want to do well, keep up with it, but it was interesting. I thought I was going to hate this course but it turned out to be my best CMS course.

Awesome. Made a course I thought I would hate in to a class that I really enjoyed. Discussed really great concepts and even showed some great films (others not so much). Recommended if you're willing to work hard and looking to feel fulfillment from the courses you take!

Very friendly professor, wants to help anyone who asks. He does provide notes, download them and add your own since he only writes the basic. Text book chapters are very long and packed with a lot of information which can get a little overwhelming. Read the text but don't worry if you miss a week or two. Not an easy course so think it's an easy A

Comment:

A really good professor! I really liked him and my T.A (I don't know if she's still there). One of the first films we watched is now in my top 5. Lectures are kind of boring especially when you're anticipating the film you're going to watch and want to utilise the film techniques just taught in lecture. Overall I HIGHLY recommend this course!

Zyrd is a very helpful guy, always happy to answer questions. The TAs were great, and the discussions were always useful. The textbook can be quite long-winded but I found the material interesting (though many other students did not).

Great prof! He's very enjoyable to listen to and doesn't ramble on about irrelevant issues. He provides tons of clarification and examples, including examples that might cause some embarassment on his part if they don't work out. Multiple choice/directly related essay question exams, easy essays. Great class!
