Comment:

Calc class was hard and thats for someone who took calc in high school last year. Its not entirely his fault as he wants to help but hes very monotone and hard to follow. Spent the whole class at the board confusing everyone. Hard enough class as is but Id try to take it with someone else if possible.

Comment:

Dr. Freeze is very well versed with his material and always gives helpful answers to any questions you have. The lectures can be proof heavy, so it might be good to print/write notes in advance. Tests are very similar to practice ones he posts and will always review if you need it! There was no mandatory homework, but it helps a lot for practice.

I have never failed a class in my entire life and I failed his class. He over explains things to the point you will be confused. Giving you ways to solve problems that he wont even let you use on a test. I will never ever take a class taught by him again. And not to mention hes monotoned.

Comment:

Not sure why anyone would give this man a bad review. Gave out review problems for each exam that were pretty similar to the tests. Quizzes were take home. Dropped the lowest quiz grade and the final replaces your lowest test grade. Math is not my strongest point but he made the class very straight forward if you put it in the effort and study.

I would not recommend taking his class. Every lecture was just constant writing of notes with no additional resources such as worksheets or review packets to help.

Best calculus professor that you can take hands down. This class is really hard but he makes it as easy as possible, all homework is online which you can keep trying until you get everything right and the tests are not the exact same as the review problems but they are very similar so as long as you make sure you know how to do them you'll do fine.

10/10; Would forever recommend this professor. Math does not come easy to me, in any way, but I have had this professor for MAT161 and MAT162 now and he never ceases to amaze me in being able to make me understand the various techniques used in these courses.

Dr. Michael Freeze is a brilliant guy. He really knows his stuff. Excellent professor and easy to understand. Tests can be difficult if you do not study. I would take him again.

Dr. Chang and Dr. Freeze were co-advisors. Dr. Freeze is super nice and will stop what he's doing to help you. He read through the final paper drafts and gave us great feedback and is much more personable than Dr. Chang. Very nice and quiet.

The lectures are pretty boring. He's big on the "why", so expect a lot of proofs of theorems. Those never really show up on the tests though. Homework and quizzes were basically how I learned everything.

Don't take him if you aren't good at math. I studied, went to the math lab for additional help, even let the homework teach me. I'm pretty sure I'm failing at this point, will be taking it again with another teacher. Doesn't care if you understand. He missed a week and crammed everything into the next week. Find someone else.

Very difficult teacher; doesn't try to be but he's not good at explaining the material. The txtbk was awful; I ended up checking out another book at the library to supplement what I should've been learning in class. The biggest problem is his brilliance & inability to teach to anyone below his level of intelligence. And I'm a Math major...

Considering I may be the worst student at math on this Earth, Dr. Freeze did a pretty good job. He is incredibly boring so be prepared to bring your iphone or some form of entertainment to class. Tests were hard but he gives partial credit and has quizzes right after teaching topics. Laughs at weird math jokes which is funny

Calculus is not my strongest subject, but this class was very hard. He gives good examples and notes during class, so if you go, your notes can be helpful. The quizzes are take home which is a plus but they are only a small part of your final grade. Tests are very hard. He is smart, but almost too smart for the average student to understand.

His class got a little boring at times but as long as you take notes you'll do well.He can talk over your head cause he's a genius but if you ask a question he's happy to answer it.He explains things until you get it. Homework is only suggested and i never did it and did fine. Quizzes are take home, tests aren't too bad.
