She didnt really do much to teach you the material before the essays. I feel like you were immediately expected to know what she wanted. I also had a hard time understanding what she was telling me when i contacted her.

I hated this course. We had a paper due every 4wks and 1 discussion/wk. The workload was not terrible, but Prof Brock gave very unclear assignment directions and, although did respond to emails quickly, she did not respond helpfully. Took weeks to grade. Also, she had a no excuse policy and said to drop the course if unable to turn in work on time.

Professor Brock's goal it to TEACH you. Her instructions and expectations are clear. She gives great feedback on essays and enough direction to allow you to refine your papers.

Comment:

I took Prof. Brock's online class. I ended up with a B in the class. Easy assignments to keep your grade up, only 3 or 4 major grades. Does not give a lot of feed back on essays trying to help you improve it, just a lot of correcting grammar mistakes, etc. It is not a hard class.

Comment:

Gives good, clear directions and feedback on papers that are assigned throughout the semester. There are weekly reading assignments along with discussions due the first 10 weeks. These discussions are not difficult if you actually read the material assigned. Professor Brock is a great teacher. Fairmont State is very lucky to have her.!

I don't know why some people whine about how she grades. If you read the stories and EXPLAINED why you liked or disliked a story, she was fine with it, she in no way expected you to agree with each story (or her) even if she liked it. I liked her class alot as she made you actually use your brain and think for yourself.

Had for her Online Lit 2 and it was a horrible experience. You have to participate in discussions every week online and I think she just randomly chooses your grade out of a hat. There was no clear grading scale going on. You also have to write two 5-page papers and she grades them pretty strictly.

I enjoyed the class very much so... It was a good learning environtment and she made it easy to understand what she wanted. The confrences made the class easier because of the one on one time and help you got from them was wonderful!

Mrs. Brock is very sarcastic, but fun and understanding. This class was more like an open discussion class than an Emglish class. Just show up for class, and do the 3 papers, and you'll easily pass.
