Comment:

One of the hardest classes I've had so far. Class took place only in the dead of morning, which i dreaded, and she was very strict on grading. BUT I persevered, took her criticism to consideration and passed with an acceptable grade. Read, edit papers at least 6 times, be prepared before class. You'll pass only if you put effort into it!

Hardest Class i've ever taken. Extremely unclear what she wants. I tried to follow her directions exactly and would receive mid to low 70s as well as most other students in the class. Good intentions but hard to do well

DONT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN EASY A. She is a very tough grader and has high expectations for every student. She gives homework and we constantly upload the documents into Blackboard so you can't get away with not doing it. The HW ultimately helps with the essays. If you don't try in this class, you will fail. You will learn a lot

Awful. She makes me angry every morning. She is so single minded and will only give you a good grade if it is what she was picturing exactly. Does not allow you to be creative.

Vecchio is a very tough professor, but she is very passionate about her class, and if you REALLY put in the work, you can certainly get an A. My writing improved more in her class than in any other other I've ever taken. She sets out very clear grading criteria for each paper, and if you don't follow it to a T, don't expect a high grade. Take her!!

Tough, but a great professor! My writing improved greatly in her class, and if you respect her, she'll respect you. It helps to get on her good side through particpation, and even if it seems like the grades you got are bad, your final grade is better. I never got above a B+ on a paper, & got an A for the course. She's easily accessible, take her!!

I got a C on the very first paper, and I was about to drop the class - but then I had a discussion with her and just tried my best writing essays how she told us, and not only did I learn more than all of my other English classes combined, but received an A. She really cares about her students, and you learn so much. Love her

Whatever you do, do not take her. She's very condescending and talks down to people a lot. I had asked her what she thought of my thesis and how I could improve it and she told that I should know and that I'm asking her to do my job for me. She's not clear on instructions and only see what she wants to see.

This class was not easy.. It was very hard to understand what she wanted and she did not explain very clearly.. A lot of work but somewhat manageable.. Don't take for an easy semester.. also EXTREMELY BORING. Raises grade average in the end

If you don't have a good command of mechanical usage, sentence structure,and writing analysis this class will be very difficult. If you want an A you must either come in with great writing skills or make sure to go to the writing center as often as possible for guidance.

She seems strict but is a very passionate teacher. She's a tough grader, but sees your effort. One of the few professors who actually care about teaching & improvement of students. 2 presentations & 3 papers. Papers are worked on in class for the most part. If struggling, ask for help. It's tough, but you'll become a better writer. NOT FOR EASY A.

She is really a nice person if you put in effort to talk with her a lot about your work. Her feedback really is great and useful but her grading is EXTREMELY STRICT. Only 2 people in my class of 30 or so students got an A- or above. You really need to work HARD. If possible, choose another professor but this class helps if you dont mind a bad grade

She grades you based on how much you've grown over the course of the semester. Even though, she's a tough grader on papers; she gives good feedback for improvement. At the end of the term. she gives you the option to revise an earlier essay. She's a very fair woman, you get what you put in.

I absolutely love this lady. At first I was a little anxious because I thought she was strict but in reality she really cares for her students. You can sense her passion for teaching. You'll really learn a lot in just one semester, she gives great feedback and has pretty cool and creative assignments. I'm taking her again and I love her!!

Comment:

Very strict at first. But the last day of class she's really nice because she's only hard on the students to force them to do better. Sure she's s tough grader but she forces kids not to be lazy. It's definitely not a hard class, if you show up everyday. Most of the papers due are worked on in class and she gives good feedback for improvement.

Comment:

She's extremely strict, but you will definitely learn a lot from her. I never got above an 80 on any of her essays or assignments, C- on the midterm, B+ on the final, and C- on her research paper (25% of your grade) and still got a B. Just make sure she sees your trying and participating. And make sure you go to class. She counts attendance.

She is an extremely strict professor, but she knows what she's doing and can teach. She will definitely improve your writing, but don't take her class for an easy A. 2 essays,2 oral presentations, research paper, midterm and final. Little to no homework. The books are required, she will call you out if you don't have it. Don't be absent/late.
