If you want to take a class that will make you have the most unpleasant semester of your life then take a class with Florence. She will literally make you buy a book compiles of other peoples works and she makes money off it through the print shop. If you dont show up with it she will take points off. She doesnt teach, she just reads. Very boring

This was hands down the worst class I've ever taken in my life. The entire class was strictly group work. She assigned ten 5 page group papers that had to be fashioned into a 40 page monstrosity and presented at the end of the term. They had to be coordinated with your group and required a lot of outside of class work (visiting neighborhoods)

The title of the class has education in it. However not much in the way of education here. We wrote 4 ten page papers and then a final 40 page paper along with dozens of posts on BB. All groups had to "discover" a NYC neighborhood and share what they found. BORING and waste of time. She gives no actionable feedback. And expects perfection.

Vague syllabus foreshadows semester of unanswered emails & cryptic paper comments. 40 pg paper turned into double that for my class. Google a dozen educators for 5 minutes, share out what you found. Read 5 articles on pedagogy. Lots of time posting on BB. That's your edu theory. Onerous waste of time. Unreasonably hard grader. Bad pedagogy.

Took the class last semester; it turned out to be better than I thought! I really learned a great deal about the journey to becoming a teacher, neighborhoods, evaluation methods etc. divide each paper into parts; each writes 1.5 pages. one is responsible for intro/con and putting it together. make sure to proofread your part and add citations!

Strictly gives group work/ assignments. She's isn't always clear about her instructions but she'll critique the hell out of you work. As a teacher teaching future teachers her teaching method is weird, mainly talking for long periods of time, giving only group research papers and telling you what you must do as a future teacher.

She's really sweet as person, but as a professor of "education", she's too strict. She is not clear about what she wants exactly in her paper. Would rather do the observation, but she wants 27-page research paper done by a group. It's really hard to cooperate with students to write the paper, different styles, opinions, and pace. Fk you Florence!

This is the single worst class I have taken in my entire educational career. The irony of it being, this professor is teaching future teachers HOW TO TEACH. Let me be clear, she is a genuine and kind person. But that being said she is a horrendous teacher. Do not ever take her.

WORST class, only group projects counted, wouldn't care if the group didn't participate it didn't matter. the whole grade is based on group projects that she picks. would not recommend her!

I found her class enjoyable. I think she is very intelligent and provokes deeper thoughts. However she was a hard grader not very helpfull and all our papers were group papers. My group sucked. I ended up with a B- and that has been my lowest grade in Brooklyn College.

She can be a nice teacher, but I hated her class. 70% of your grade is group work. She is a tough grader. It can be difficult to understand what she wants. There is no textbook, only pdf files that she provides. If your group is bad, get out of the class.

I do not have a problem with her personally. I find her pleasant and intelligent. However, I can't help but admit, that there was unclear directions given, harsh grading systems, and problems understanding the assignment which she refused to explain if you needed help. With that said, what else is there to say? I won't be taking her class again.

After my first class, I checked this site and shivered. What I discovered is that Florence is a very talented teacher, demanding of herself and students and not one to inflate grades. If you don't want to work, you're sunk. Best to engage her help -- she's an excellent editor. My most hard-fought for and rewarding grade.

This woman is under the impression that because she has a variety of phychoses, she is a phychiatrist. She is a very bad teacher and very bad for education. When she lectures she fills the air with cliche, then feels exhaulted with her own witless brilliance. Beware! If you want to know what's wrong with education in this country, take her class

Does not know how to lead a discussion and gives quizzes that test memory rather than overall comprehension. Often misreads the texts she assigns, which are mostly college freshman level reading material. Maddeningly rigid and unclear. Lots of work and very little learning. Serves as a fine example of how NOT to teach.

This was one of the best professors I've ever had. She makes you work hard and does not take any(bleep) from her students. I LOVED HER AND IF YOU DIDN'T IT IS BECAUSE YOU CARE ONLY ABOUT YOUR GRADES AND NOT YOUR EDUCATION.
