Doesn't bother to learn your name even though you're in a class of 20 students. Has a VERY fake-nice vibe to her. If your lesson plans aren't written EXACTLY how she wants them they're wrong. Really disliked going to this class every week. :(

Had Walsh Coates for EDU 100 although, she was a very energetic and engaging professor, she had a tendency to get off topic and elaborate on the minor details that weren't very important. Managed to get a B. Tests are online, I took them with fellow classmates.

Dr. W-C is very energetic! EDU100 is a pretty straight-forward class but she made the material relevant and interesting enough to make me look forward to the class more often than not. Pretty easy-going with assessments, however if your open-ended responses are not what she's looking for she will certainly show that in your grade..

I have had Dr. Coates for several classes in the past and enjoyed them, but I am sad to say I was very disappointed in how she ran this class. I know this was the first time she taught SEU 342 but I am an A student and I even thought her expectations were unrealistic. It is impossible to do a lesson plan the way she wants. Avoid her for this class.

Comment:

Awesome class...def keeps you awake. She is committed to public ed and wants students to become the future of great teachers. Uses D2L like a champ - expect reflection questions for homework to be dropboxed and all quizzes to be online. Very liberal and let's you know it - but is not rude about her beliefs. Overall, I would highly recommend her.

Comment:

Nice/funny prof and easy course, although she voices her own views (political/religious) too much. Over exaggerates usefulness of course and gives lower grades on homework if she feels you didn't "think about it" enough. Crams the final essay to last moment. Attendance is mandatory, which is annoying since you don't miss much. Overall good though.

Dr. Walsh Coates is an incredible person and that certainly translates through her teaching. I have taken two classes with her and she has taught me the most out of all of my professors. As a future educator, I hope to be as understanding and caring as she is. And she has definitely gotten better with the "scatter-braininess" and organization!

Dr. Walsh Coates is amazing! She's very upbeat and interesting in her lectures, rarely uses power points. Sometimes she is a little scatter brained and unorganized, but this woman does alot! I also have her as my advisor, she is great. I definitely recommend her.

She is so nice. she makes class so interesting. She does alot of inclass simulations thatreally help you understand the material. The class goes by fast because we are allowed to work in grops and participate in class. She knows what she is talking about and will help you with anything. I highly recomend her. She's great

She is a very upbeat teacher and tries hard to keep your attention. Unfortunately, a little scatter brained at time which makes class confusing. Her tests take a very long time and involve a lot, but they are relevant to what she teaches. Her assignments are not hard, you just have to actually take time and do them.

Very upbeat and motivated.Always full of energy and a great sense of humor. lots of helpful examples and experience in the teaching field. tells things like they are. no sugar coating. i would take another class from her. she should share her enthusiasm with a few other teachers at Kutztown.

this class was so much fun! Dr. Walsh coates has the best attitude, always up beat and cracking jokes. The calss is not to hard, just do what she asks and read the book! I dont no reccomend taking this class by any other professor! She really makes a borning class fun!

Great teacher, pretty easy class. Should be an easy A (she even told my class that) just watch out for the final - that one required a decent amount of studying. It caught me completely off guard and made my final grade a B ;Solely because I didnt do my part and study enough.
