very easy to pass if you simply pay attention. His lectures can get extremely boring but if you take good notes and study, you'll pass his tests. he does require work to be done from the textbook he assigns. Notes sometimes dont correlate with exam questions but he is very generous and wants to see you pass. overall not a bad professor 8/10

Im not here to bash this professor but, for a 100 level course this by far was the hardest course ever. For, starters the class is pretty boring not to mention his voice plus his lectures. His exams DO NOT relate to the notes within the book or powerpoints. He also collects your notes at the beginning of every exam. NOT A EASY A

I had difficulty completing one of his assignments and he was very understanding. He definitely cares and wants you to pass. Get ready to read the chapters of his book. You will pass if you read and pay attention. It's fairly easy if you follow instructions.

Knows his caribbean music but will offer to take any advise on what music to play during class. Focuses mostly on Spanish music and not on the other Caribbean countries such as Jamaica and Trinidad (Only spent two days on them each) but overall was a pretty good class.

He knows a lot about what he does and some lectures were pretty interesting. 3 tests and a 5 page paper which was pretty easy. The tests definitely need to be studied for, he doesn't make them easy. By no means an easy A of a professor, but he's fair and if you ask for help he's happy to do so.

Ehhh... if you like music, then this might be the class for you. I don't like learning about music and I still got an A. I don't know what people expect from him, he is really good at teaching. You do not need the textbook if you take notes about what he says. Yes, sometimes it gets boring but it is what it is. This is college!!

The class was more like a boring history class. There is plenty of homework. He wants you to buy his book read the chapters and summarize them. He does give a good review for the tests. But the test will have essay questions that he does review. While teaching he goes off on tangents and is not clear. He grades everything and he is not an easy.

Had this guy for his caribbean music class. Definitely the worst elective I took in college. He is so dumb that he actually thinks the students care about this subject only he cares about. If you think it's an easy A, its not a gimme. Don't know how this guy got a job teaching thee people. I felt dumber after each class meeting. Avoid this lonely guy; take yoga.

very easy although he focused mostly on spanish music. He only focused on soca and reggae for about 4 classes out of the whole semester and he knows more about spanish music than reggae and soca. Other than that hes extrememly easy as long as you do the work which isnt hard at all

Professor Peter Manuel has a great deal of passion for music. However, he tends to be very boring. I took the class thinking it would be good and entertaining. The videos were very dull and horrible. Overall take an art or another professor for music.

Focused mostly on Spanish music. Didnt really touch on reggae, calypso, and soca which is the main reason why I took the class. The lectures pretty much follows the textbook since he's the one who wrote it. He's a knowledgeable professor but the class itself is pretty boring.

Don't take him. He tries to teach too much in too little time. Should not be the head of the Department. Take someone else.

Means well and wants to get his point across. Just read the book, know the material and you will be fine. He wrote the text book for the class. He is not the worst teacher God created.
