Comment:

Prof Hanger is one of my favorite professors I've had. I've taken two of his classes already (dinosaurs and intro to geo) and I'm taking a third in fall. If you have the chance to take him, do it! He's also great with online teaching and responds quickly to emails

Comment:

I highly recommend you take Geology 101 with Professor Hanger for your required lab. Significantly easier than chemistry, physics, etc. Labs are simply quizzes asking "What type of rock is this" and whatnot. You are allowed two chances on every lab and test. Grade is only based on labs and quizzes (only homework is to prepare for them).

This class is super easy for a lab credit! They nicknamed it rocks for jocks. I highly recommend if you do not want to waste your time with Chem. Also, I recommend doing the lab Yellowstone trip in the summer with Dr. Clokey it is so much fun and he is super nice!

Rex is awesome. His lectures are always clear and to the point. He really engages with the class and truly wants students to do well. I have had Rex for 3 classes now and he has not changed. I would recommend him as a professor anytime. TAKE HIM WHEN YOU CAN!

Very good professor would definitely recommend him. Cares about his students and that they do well. Gives out great study guides that have a different way of studying for each exam. You don't have to go to class to understand what is going on but it would be recommended. Some stuff he says in person does not have on slides.

Great professor! Very interesting course, not that difficult. Attendance isn't mandatory but recommended. Print out notes ahead of time. Grades are specifically based on the exams and online quizzes. (Unlimited attempts on quizzes - you can always get 100%)

Great class and professor! Very interesting, lots of lectures and notes. Definitely recommend printing out notes early. If you study and go to class, this course is pretty easy. There are labs and also fieldwork with this class.

Fun professor. You can really tell that he genuinely enjoys his field. He goes off on a tangent every once in a while but they're fun stories. I always thought the exams were a breeze but the class averages around mid 70's on all exams. Some days he give EC just for showing up. He has easy homework that actually benefits you. 100% recommend taking!

Rex is great. Show up and take notes , and you'll pass. Class isn't mandatory but going does help as he gives a lot of pointers in class.

This class consisted of powerpoint notes and 3 exams. No recorded lectures, no audio with the notes, no discussions. The readings assigned did not pertain to the exams. And some of the powerpoint notes came off as unclear. The questions in the exams werent always covered in the notes or text. This course was the epitome of teach yourself.

Rex is very well educated in Geology. Classes were slightly boring, as you just go over his powerpoint. Attendance is not mandatory and he posts all of the slides from class online. Only four tests all semester. They are quite easy, as all of the information on the test is covered in the notes

Amazing professor and amazing class. For Geology 492, the class travels to various states to collect fossils. Definitely a great class and for a great price! Easy, fun, and definitely worth taking!

I hate all things science but loved his class! Very cool dude who understands that not everyone taking his class is a geology major. Tests are easy if you spend a small amount of time studying and they are never cumulative. You get multiple tries on the online quizzes. Definitely take him, it will make you wish you were a geology major!

Dr Hanger is a great guy. I would take his classes again. He knows his stuff, but does miss classes often so check your emails before class to make sure he is coming in. He is always taking field trips and stuff with other classes.

He's a funny and interesting guy. He tells a lot of stories and makes the class interesting. I would take more if it related to my major. 10 quizzes, all online with unlimited time and trials. 4 tests, final is not cumulative. All of information is in the notes and all are fairly simple if you study . He's very helpful if you need it. Recommend.

This class was great. Attendance was not mandatory, but tests were hard and much of the material we were tested on was discussed in class. He would also give answers to specific question for the exam in class as an extra bonus for those who showed up. Tests were not cumulative and we only had three for the semester. Interesting class, dinos rock!

Paleo was a great class. His lectures are easy and most of the time we are doing activities in class, rather than taking notes in lecture. Several classes cancelled over the semester - which is always a plus! Easy A and a fun class all around. Highly recommended

Dr Hanger is one of my favorite professors of all time! His grading style is great. Typically you get 3 tests a semester, including the final, and they are NOT cumulative. So you only have to know the information for that period and not prior. He uses a grading curve, and tells you what is going to be on the test and gives study guides.
