Dr. Seigel is super knowledgeable and loves helping every one of his students. Lectures are interesting and if you pay attention you will ace the exams. You can bring a piece of paper with you (8x11) double sided to exams. He's a very nice grader- he cares more about effort. He's a great guy, definitely would take again!

I definitely recommend this class for whatever semester your taking. Although were only graded by a few things he's super nice and engaging. You definitely won't fall asleep like most lecture classes. There are critter breaks which are super cool too. He gives you a study guide for test which is really helpful. DONT OVERTHINK his test.

He is a great professor! Lectures/ readings are posted and are helpful for the exams/ quizzes which makes up your grade, but there is extra credit opportunities as well. He brings in "critters" as a way to change up class. He is passionate about what he does which makes the class environment better, I looked forward to attending this class.

He is condescending towards his students, he asks for people to ask questions then cuts them off before they are able to finish their sentence. On his powerpoints, he adds his opinions instead of just facts. The tests are straight forward as long as you keep up with all of the readings he gives.

This is my 2nd time retaking his class. All his exams consist of trick questions making it very hard to pass, I can barely get by with a C. Although he lets you use notes on every exam it still isnt helpful and you'll think you did well but actually fail (even with the notes he gives you from his own note taker!!) A 120 class shouldnt be this hard.

you will think you understand and take the test and get a C at best. very unapproachable which makes it hard to ask questions. Also hard to understand test and exam questions because of the way he words questions

While Professor Seigel is extremely knowledgeable in his area, he expects the students to be just as knowledgeable (like they've worked in the places he has). When you write exactly what was taught in class on the essay portions of his tests, he'll take off points for basically not remembering what he said/only writing what's on the lecture slides.

Wonderful teacher, amazing lectures. You can tell he really cares and is passionate about what he is teaching. But, I found the class to be very hard due to the class grade being completely dependent on test scores. 3 Exams, 3 quizzes, and some extra credit. The tests only had 10-20 multiple choice and 1-2 essays so it didn't have room for error

Quizzes are super hard for no reason, some extra cred opportunity but not much, class is made up of 3 quizzes and 3 tests, thats it. I wouldnt recommend taking him and if you do, pass/fail the class. You never know how much your grade can change by one test or quiz.

His teaching is not like a regular bio class and although that can be a good thing he gives way too much information at a time. He is a very tough grader on the short answers. This is by far the hardest class I've taken at Towson and it is supposed to be one of the easiest bio class offered. I would not recommend taking him.

I chose to take this class with him because of his reviews which are VERY misleading. The only things you get graded on are tests and quizzes. There are very few questions on the tests/quizzes, but each question is worth a ton of points. A lot of questions are based on articles of videos instead of the actual content in the powerpoints.

He only grades quizzes and exams, offers very little extra credit, and when he does, he grades it very harshly. He is not understanding when you have to miss class and won't allow you to make up the work you missed. He assigns essays on the tests and doesn't make it clear what he is looking for when grading them. Most test points are from essays.

Tests and quizzes re EXTREMELY hard, and that's all that's graded. Sometimes he will give discussion questions as extra credit but it's only about two points. Professor doesn't really try to help you to improve your grade, and doesn't really care how you're doing in his class. Pretty rude, always wants you to ask questions, but can never answer

Awesome teacher! Very passionate about his field and shows through his lectures. Brings in different animals for critter breaks. Quizzes were a breeze but is such a difficult grader on his tests. Lectures straight from the slides and the only reading you need to do are the articles posted on blackboard.

I had him for a lecture class of 100+ students but he still made the class fun and interesting and he even gave us a few group activities for extra credit. He's passionate about science and even brings in animals for "critter breaks". As long as you go to class & pay attention/take notes you will do fine (and he lets you use study guides on tests)

Great Professor, would definitely take again. His lectures are interesting and he loves it when you ask questions. His tests are pretty tough but so long as you study and have your one sheet study guide that he lets you have then you'll be fine.

I took this just for general lab science and absolutely do not regret it! It's more conceptual, real-world science than textbook memorization. Looks for very specific answers in short answers but tests are taken online at home and final is in-class open note. Material you actually care to learn about. No textbook.

I wish I could put tough grader more than once. For this being just a 120 level class, I couldn't BELIEVE how hard of a grader he was. He never emailed me back about any questions I had either. He said we could email him before the final to see what we need to strive for; I did and he never answered. You have to go to class! STUDY HARD!!

Dr. Seigel is an awesome professor. Aside from being a professor, he is also a conservationist, so that's what he likes to focus on in class. He lectures using PowerPoint and moves pretty quickly, so feel free to ask questions or ask him to slow down. He also brings in animals every so often for "critter breaks," so it was pretty enjoyable.

Dr. Seigel is probably my favorite teacher at Towson. He clearly loves what he does and incorporates that well into his lectures. Field trips and labs are so much fun, probably more so than any other class I've taken. Tests are fine if you know and understand the material (not just recite it). Its a shame this class only lasts for one semester.
