Comment:

Dr. Janke is a very kind man who really works hard to make sure teachers are prepared. He gives a lot of real world examples that gives students an opportunity to think about before heading out for Methods and Clinical Practice. He is a tough grader so be prepared for that.

Comment:

His lectures are long and boring. He simply stands and talks. Still, he's very knowledgeable and an extremely nice man. His classes are extremely easy, as he gives you a heads up as far as what is on each assessment. There is no reason to not do well in one of Janke's classes.

Loves to hear himself talk. Very "old school" in his description of the classroom. Spends too much time on specific topics. Goes into each class not knowing where we will end. Has no definite due dates. Very irritating to be in this class. Reads the text book in class to you. Share with a friend, don't actually buy it.

Janke does not "practice what he preaches." He teaches how to give assessments, but doesn't assess his students the same way! I'd like to advise you NOT give your personal opinion in his class because he will reject it. He believes he is perfect and always right. He does not post grades and keep you up to date so your final grade is a big surprise!

Comment:

Dr. Janke has high expectations for his students. He is reasonable and allows for one absence per semester. However, you don't really want to miss a class because he covers a lot of information. He is a former school psychologist and surprisingly a very capable teacher. Never puts anyone on the spot but encourages participation. Good teacher!

This class was a joke. He made me take my hat off--He said I was unprofessional. It was a 7PM class. First off---I'm well into adulthood--I will decide what's appropriate for me to wear. Secondly, he told us how to assess students, yet he assessed us COMPLETELY differently. OH--he won't listen to your point of view either. He's ALWAYS right!

Terrible professor! It's a shame that this man is teaching students HOW to teach when he, himself, cannot. He told me that he couldn't take me seriously because I wore hoodies to class. He said serious students dress nice for class!!

This is a professor that shouldn't be. I have heard nothing but terrible things about him and this course, and I'm quite sure he does not get ANY good reviews at the end of ANY class, so I'm not sure why he is still here. He probably is hanging on by tenure. He teaches the textbook almost word for word, so why not just read the book and save??

He is quite possibly the worst professor in the education department. He is scatterbrained, self-contradicting, and he doesn't teach by his own standards. Other much better professors oppose the methods he teaches, and he is unwilling to consider students opinions and ideas. I honestly feel that he did more harm to my teaching career than good.

He is nice but he does not really allow people to explain why they might try something different then how he does it. He will take what you say and then say how his style is better. The course teaches you to use a variety of methods to assess but he does not when he assesses you. Not many grades in the class so it's hard to recover from poor grade.

One of the less competent teachers in the edu dept. He is smug and very defensive in class, so don't expect enlightening discussions; it's his way and everyone else is wrong. He isn't fair. He teaches you to asses in a completely different way than he will assess you. He's unclear and unhelpful and doesn't have his students best interest at heart.

The funny thing is that he is teaching teaching strategies an management and he is a school psychologist and probably has a limited amount of time as the main teacher in front of a classroom. I wouldn't suggest the night class.

Dr. Janke seems like a pretty nice guy, but as for the class...I was very frustrated by his teaching and grading styles. Unfortunately at some points he made me not want to be a teacher, but thankfully my other professors are pretty great.

I felt that the class was pretty unorganized. I also found it difficult to please him in terms of assignments, because he was unclear on what he wanted and he would grade fairly hard. He never specified what he wanted on anything.

Awesome class! Lots of info in a short amount of time. You have to teach 4 lessons in front of the class, but its not too bad at all. You learn a lot without a tremendous amount of work. I would definately recommend him.
