This teacher is one of the most hardest teacher i ever had. He chooses faorites and gives no support on improvment.I was forced to take this class by my major. you pretty much have to be perfect the first time around. every time he sees your drawing he will find every little thing to destroy your picture even if its the best one you done so far.

He likes his female students a little too much. He also picks favorites. It seems like he mostly teaches for a steady paycheck, and he's very pretentious.

very good artist, and he does not pick favorits. If you work hard and he sees that you are serious you will have as fair of a chance as anyone else. He is helpfull but alot of the time you have to ask his opinion in order to recieve help.

A very talented artist, but a commodity artist, and a horrible teacher. It's about who you know and how much you kiss this guys ass. He has an incredible ability, but trying to get anything other than his taste in music or his opinion on his high times in Chicago is about all you'll get. He's one big act, fake to the core.

Best drawing class I took at SFA. I learned more in his class than with Frields or Wink (UGH - thank God he's no longer dept. chair!!) Kinsell was a difficult grader, but that only helped me become a better artist.

Great artist, tough teacher. Expects quite a bit, but gives help. I gave me lots of tips and gave me ideas to try when I needed help. Witty sense of humor. As an advisor, he is amazing and helps figure out the path to reach your goals.

He is a good artist bad teacher. Isn't understanding and paitent sometimes. Doesn't direct well and has favorites. The class is more than just painting. You have to build the frames. Not fun and overwhelming.

Besides having the occasional funny line from time to time, this intructor has much to learn about the fine detail of Instruction & well, he comes off as pretentious, who intends to attract notice & impress others. Rather plastic i.m.o. But he's a fine artist. Thats it. Its hard to learn from him.

Painting class, terrible teacher, has his picks, good artist but NOT a teacher. Doesn't matter if you earn an A you won't get it unless you are a pet. I know, I had a 3.45 and got a B, take someone else if you care about learning and your grade.

Talented artist, horrible teacher. Spends very little time, if at all, on actually teaching technique. Spends the majority of the time either talking about irrelevant issues or out of the classroom.

Avoid at all costs if you want to be a good artist. He encourages students with poor craftsmanship over the students with higher standards. He is afraid there aren't enough pieces in the "art pie" to go around.

Good teacher and gifted artist BUT his assigments are always ambiguous and I think they are far too time consuming for a lower level course. Also, many people complain that he picks favorites among the students and grades accordingly.
