Lectures are super engaging. Texts are locally printed in a packet and are cheap--better than a textbook. All exams are essays (lowest is dropped) and there's one simple semester paper. Grading criteria isn't always clear, but as long as you read the material before exams, you should be fine.

Easy class, if you're looking for a minor requirement. Great teacher, very interactive. Learnt so much in this class & I'm glad I did. Makes her own packet that's super cheap compared to getting textbooks. Tests are essay based but easy if you read & talk about your opinion. Drops lowest exam so you can opt out of the final. Fun professor.

Samar Farage is an excellent professor! She makes learning fun, she is very flexible with assignments, and always has interesting stories to share. She has also travelled the world, so she presents interesting perspectives. Once you have a class with Samar, you'll want to take more from her. She's AWESOME!!

Samar is hilarious and crazy and I love it. Class overall is easy, just show up. The class is pretty test heavy, all essay tests but she drops the lowest and she grades pretty easy. Only gives 2-4 days notice for lengthy homework videos/questions but they're participation grades so it's just annoying. You'll love the class and learn a lot, promise.

Given essay tests but you can drop the lowest scores, also have occasional writing assignments based off book work. The book is actually a $15 packet sold locally. Funny professor, really nice and lets you email her the questions if you forget to do them. The key to the essays is to relate the theory to real life, she doesn't like regurgitation.

Great class, great teacher. She takes attendance seriously but you'll enjoy going so you won't want to miss. Exams are essay format, but it allows you much more free thought, and Shes not that tough of a grader.

Samar is an absolute DOLL. It is obvious how passionate she is about the subject matter and she does all she can to make the students passionate about it too. The essay tests aren't easy, but if you attend class and pay attention to her lectures, you will do well on them. Her lectures are never boring and she will go out of her way to help you.

Samar is a great professor who genuinely cares about the subject and teaching. This class really changed the way that I think about certain things. However, it definitely takes some effort to do well in this class. There is homework due just about every week. 4 exams & a term project. The exams are all essay, so be prepared.

Overall an okay class. Grading system isn't clear and none of the grades are posted on angel. Exams are all essay based- gives you a general study guide prior to each exam. Participation counts so attend lecture, she doesn't allow phones or laptops. Definitely not an easy A, but not impossible either.

This woman is a goddess. Listen to her every word! She'll make you question everything, she'll hit you across the face with your own apathy. Brilliant. If only every professor was like her! Take what she says to heart, try to take control of your own time<3

Interesting class, but only gives one side. When you try to disagree, she gets defensive and just says you're wrong! Collected our cell phones for a week straight. Weekly quizzes on readings were 40% of the grade. Gave low grades as if to prove something ("Let's not be grade grubbers, people!"). I got a B, so it's not bad, just frustrating.
