I really really enjoyed Professor waltons class. It was an 8 week course and all online (no set times) but he was so Helpful in anything I needed, was not tough in students, very understanding with the few things I needed! I would def recommend taking any of his classes. Lot or reading but worth it, great teacher!

Professor Walton is a great instructor. The class is an 8-week course and it's very simple. There are usually discussion posts that are easily doable and quizzes some weeks. There were 3 tests that were simple enough to do. There is a big writing assignment (1000 words minimum) that is very simple. He gives EC on every assignment. Would recommend!

This class was a bit challenging due to how many writing assignments we had. The class was easy to understand but its just the work that was tedious. If your the type of person to procrastinate then this class isnt meant for you .

I'm taking JAZZ101. Boy, did I not realize what I was getting myself into. So much information is provided for you to only have to know enough to cover 10 questions on quizzes, making it harder to know what to focus on. He makes you respond to 4 people and write a paper in less than a week. For a pass/no pass class, it is too time consuming.

I wasn't sure what I was getting into when enrolling for a history of Jazz music class, but was delightfully surprised with how fun this class was. Professor Walton was very organized in his lecture notes and provided many song links to make learning online enjoyable. He gives many extra credit opportunities and is fair with his grading! 10/10!!

This class was fun! It made my conversations with others about Jazz more interesting. He responds back to why you received your grade with a little note attached. He answered questions fast and enjoyed teaching. His class motivated me sign up for piano next semester. Thank you sir!

I want to remind everyone, this is a MUSIC class. This class was 10 times more work than my Psych, Ana and Physio, and Micro bio classes combined. He is so nit picky with grading and if you dont give him EXACTLY what he wants, you get MANY points off. Theres weekly 8 song analysis papers and attending a live concert is MANDATORY. Class is a joke.

Lots of extra credit options. This course doesn't require a textbook but his lecture notes are all that are required and you MUST read them and know them thoroughly for tests. Listening tests are used for quizzes and final. Do not need to have any prior musical knowledge to succeed.

I took the 8-wk on-line course. This class was laid out in an organized manner. Exams and Final represented almost 50% of your grade and the average in the class was around 65%. I averaged 85% on exams because I memorized the music and used Dr. Walton's listening guide. Plenty of extra credit that raise your grade near 20%. So, A is obtainable.

The class was a bit difficult at times, but was overall pretty easy if you follow the assignment guidelines. Professor Walton creates great lecture notes, and offers SO many extra credit opportunities too. Listening is the most important part of most assignments, so try to memorize the songs. I highly recommend this professor and class!

The textbook is not used and he advises to not purchase, therefore the class is lecture-heavy. But all the information is interesting and really pertains to the class. Extra credit is offered on EVERY assignment and is a relatively easy grader as long as you follow the directions and show you made an effort. A few discussion posts, and a few exams.

I love Mr. Walton! His quizzes make up most of your grade, & to be frank, I always did my assignments & studied lectures last minute & still got an A. The lectures are straightforward but you have to pay attention to details that will show up from the quizzes & again on the final. Its the easiest class you can take and I HIGHLY recommend him.

This music class was a breeze and I didn't know anything about music. We had 4 discussion boards, 3 quizzes, 2 listening journals, a concert report, and a final exam. I would recommend for full credit on the assignments is to just simply answer what is asked on the bullet points. I did that the whole 8 week and I received an A. Good luck everyone.

I did not know music and still received an A. Scott makes his own lectures which are PDF slides, the book is about $5 and optional. There are 2listening journals, 3 DB boards, a concert essay, and 2 WA's. Be sure to do more than 4 DB replies to receive extra credit. The mid-term and final use same questions from quizzes. Stay on top and get an A.

Dr. Walton is an amazing Professor. He answers emails promptly and gives extra credit opportunities on almost every assignment. Put in the time, read the material, and do the homework and you WILL get an A. Weekly readings are a little long, but remember this is a college course.

Such a great professor that I took his course a second time and received another A. The first half of the class is the same as jazz, the content discusses the history of music. You won't find a quizlet for the exams but you can use CTRL+F on the lecture notes and search key words. Could get an A with the extra credit alone!
