The class is about Hegel and Kiegaard. This is my last semester in Queens College and I have to say that this is the most boring professor I have ever taken. So damn boring. I could not follow the material. Save yourself some pain. Skip this class. he seems like a nice guy but, it is so painful sitting through the class.

Incredibly boring and self-obsessed. He likes the sound of his own voice and blabs on through the entire duration of the class.

brilliant man, but can't teach if his life depended on it. gets lost in his own thoughts. the material's really hard for the Hegel class and he's making it harder. very hard to approach. unless you're a philosophy major and ur looking for a long, boring and exhausting semester of work, don't take him!!!

He does not give the questions before hand & neither is he easy going. I'm probably going to fail b/c some loser likes to put inaccurate info. on this site. The way he poses questions on the exam are ridiculously difficult. His class is really tough.

Doesn't seem all together there. Sometimes seems a bit nervous. Great material however. Presents it well. Midterm and Final paper. Gives essay questions beforehand for the midterm. Recommended.

I took him for Nietzsche and loved it so much that I took Hegel & Kierkegaard with him. Great Prof. really laid back and reasonable. Easy grader, but teaches hard subjects. Can be unclear at times, but its entertaining.

Perhaps the worst teacher I've ever had. His lectures are miserable, unclear and outright boring. He barely lets the students ask questions, is a very unfavorable grader and was completely incapable of effectively respondng to any of the few questions I was able to ask him. Not only did I not learn anything in his class, I actually developed a h

Very nice prof. Former student of Danto. Gave balanced lectures on Nietzsche/Schopenhauer. Very accomodating if you need to turn paper in late. Can be repetitive/long-winded and lectures often nonstop. MidtermExam, Final Paper. Exam had 5 MC Qs and short-answer Qs, plus essay for which topics were given in advance. I think he's cool-like Nieztsche.

great teacher but long winded and only about half of the time does he present the material in a clear fashion, that an undergrad who is not so familar with the material or the terms, would understand. But a fair grader and a nice guy. doing the reading is imperative. his classes are for hard workers

He is a nice guy but he was too busy to teach this semester. His lectures are repetetive you could skip every other lecture, though he takes attendance. We didn't get to read even half of the proposed readings. His thinking conflicts with this class.

Prof Hicks is a good man, though a bit timid. Who can blame him though? He's teaching Hegel! Anyways, take his classes if you would like access to a wealth of knowledge - he must have devoted a large portion of his life to the inside of books...
