Comment:

I took her class during the summer the work is a big load but nothing you can't handle. She isn't very helpful when asking for feedback and when emailing her she was very sarcastic. She gives quite a few papers and written assignments to get done so be prepared to write a bit and assigns many readings. Shes a very harsh grader.

I took this class online in the summer and the only feedback I received was her anger at how bad my writing was. there was no constructive criticism and we had to use the words and language she wanted. She also left the country and had no way of grading papers so at the last minute I had many papers to correct and finish. I used the tutoring hub.

WORST PROFESSOR YOU CAN EVER HAVE. Shes an old hag, grouchy and rude for no reason... never knew someone can be so unhappy and take it out on students. TOTAL cringe. DO NOT TAKE YOU WILL FAIL IF NOT FAIL YOULL RECEIVE A D AT MOST!!

Shes honestly so rude its disgusting. I did all my papers and still managed to recieve and F. Never missed any days perfect attendance and i went to her office hours to understand why my grade was so poor. She failed all my well written papers and would tell me to redo them and even when i would she wouldn' accept it. I tried so hard for no reason.

By far the worst English class of my life! This class is incredibly boring and has an incredibly unlikable professor teaching it. Constantly came late to class, punishes you and looks down on you for having a different opinion and overall is guaranteed to drop your GPA.

She is the the worst English professor, i've ever had. For papers that state your own opinion, go by her opinion to get a decent grade because she'll argue it with you to the max until you eventually change it. she does not give helpful comments, if your paper is wrong she'll just point it out instead of telling you what you did wrong.

AWFUL PROFESSOR. She barely made it to class, but that's not the worst part, she attended class, but for two months straight every other day she would be at least 15-20 minutes late and would make up excuses, but when a student came late she would mark them late. I tried so hard even went to her office hours for help I never received a fair grade.

If you want to keep your gpa up do not take her class. This Professor is very difficult and hard. She doesnt give As, she grade late, she dont grade fair. if you get a 71% is a D+ which should be a C.

Dr. Chewning takes over the class curriculum with her own personal views. She doesn't focus on the curriculum and makes the entire class focused on her celebrity crush on Roxane Gay. She also has no consideration for your personal life or other classes. Do not take her if you want to have your sanity by the end of the semester.

She doesn't do her job very well. Chewning's class will not help you write better or stimulate your mind in any useful way. If you find yourself in her class, I would brace myself for constant frustration. The selection of literature, and writing topics is clearly part of a 'Smelly' Agenda. She has many cats. Expect to hear stories about that.

This was my first online class, being that this was a reading and writing comprehensive class there was defiantly a lot of both. Aside from all the reading & writing involved the material that Dr. Chewning had us read was by far the best. I greatly enjoyed all the works she had us read. My writing improved a lot. Challenging class but worth it!

All you need to know is pick a different professor because if you have to go through the semester with her your life will revolve around writing nothing else this class was hard and too much writing if you want to get an A or even a B I suggest picking a different professor.

Be prepared to write 2-4 200-1000 word papers every single week in between your midterm and final drafts and corrected papers due every other week. I dropped after 2 weeks of not having any of my work graded, how is anyone supposed to write new papers without getting feedback on the previous ones? Save yourself time and pick a different professor.

Professor Chewning is so tough. Her grading criteria is insane. If you want to keep you GPA good then don't take her, get ready to write and even if you write an extremely good paper you still wont get an A on any paper you ever write. I only took 2 classes and still ended up with a C. She takes forever to grade papers.

Out of all my classes she gave the most work. She is definitely a tough grader and gives many papers to write which will basically count as 50% of your grade. She also give extra credit which is good. she grades papers late. Sometimes she will give feedback back and sometimes she will grade without giving any type of feedback.

WORST professor ever. She and I quote doesnt believe in As. Because no ones writing is perfect. The highest grade youll get is a B/B+ and thats only if it is extremely good. Highest possible grade is an 85 yet she grades out of 100. You will not ever get an A in her class. Her grading system is bogus. BEWARE.

Just don't! One might ask : "how bad could she be?" Well, for one, you will most likely never get a 100 on anything she grades. Secondly, she rarely responds to emails. Thirdly, although you may not have a textbook for her English II online lecture, you will be responsible for reading many pieces literature before the week ends.

DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA!! She takes forever to grade, she goes on rants about stuff that's not relevant to the class. She puts the assignments into canvas before the semester even starts so you don't get any reminder, she'll change the dates on assignments without telling you and give you a zero for it.
