Comment:
Dr. Bateman's lectures can drag on sometimes, but he makes up for it by being hilarious. Plenty of puns and dad jokes lol. He is a great person and wants his students to truly learn new things, which you do. Very knowledgeable and passionate about the material he teaches. I would take another one of his courses for sure.

Though you do have to do a lot of reading Bateman is a solid prof who is very approachable and has a sense of humour that is weird at first but easily enjoyable. More discussion based than power point notes so you can tell he actually knows his stuff.

Comment:
Boring. Very, very boring. He is not a terrible prof and if I HAD to ever take a class with him again, I would. He is very lecture heavy and does not use ANY power points and just relies on his lectures, and a quiz every. single. week. He can be funny at times, but it is good to note that he also does not want you to fail.

Comment:
I took Dr. Bateman's Into to Canadian Government course in my first year. The course was amazing, and I learned a whole lot about my country's government that I didn't know before. Dr. Bateman was very reasonable with his evaluations for the course. His lectures may seem dry to some, but if you are passionate about the subject, you'll love them.

Comment:
This class was very heavy-handed on reading material, but most of it was relevant and well-correlated with course objectives. Bateman's lectures are very good; he explains things well and is hilarious in his own way. You need to keep up with the readings and pay attention to do well.

I took a class with Bateman in my first year, and after taking another one with him in second year, I've developed a new appreciation for him. He's got a great sense of humour and passion for Cdn. politics, which is evident in his lectures. He's a genius and is more approachable than he seems. Keep up with readings and assignments.

Professor Bateman is honestly the best prof a political science student could imagine. The man is insanely smart and is somebody you can learn from any day. His lectures are crystal clear and it is almost impossible for him not to get the point across, and what's better, he is hilarious which helps you keep focused and interested.

Comment:
Had him for almost all my poli sci courses, for Aquinas and GRID. Not the best lecturer but approachable even though he is somewhat stiff and intimidating. Depending on the class, textbook readings weren't always necessary to keep up. He's a nice funny person. Has a sense of humour and a great passion for politics.

Horrible prof, very monotone, lectures were boring and hard to follow, some completely irrelevant to the topic we were supposed to read about. Quizzes and tests had little to do with the readings, and he was a very hard prof to learn from.

I was well versed in Political Science before I joined this class, and I was still lost. Massive amounts of text/readings. Terrible at lectures. 80% of my class failed. Really nice guy, but terrible teacher.

Very nice man. Loves politics maybe to much. If you aren't I to politics dont ale his class because it is hard. I wouldn't call it a introduction either. If you are very knowledgeable about politics the class will be easy. Don't come in expecting to know what HHS taking about if you are a fresh learner for politics.

Good teacher, knows exactly what he talks about. Uses many books and extra readings which you MUST read or else you will fail it. Attendance is mandatory unless you have a good friend who can tell you what happens. Kinda tough since you can redo quizzes or tests you miss for any reason (including medical reasons)so you need to stay on top of things

Prof. Bateman DEFINITELY knows his stuff- especially on Can. Politics. He uses his textbooks religiously- do not fall back on readings. He is willing to help out when needed. However, I found his exams VERY hard to study for because he includes EVERY reading (usually 25-40 essays) and notes.
