Comment:

Mr. Smith gives a TON of homework that is due on test days, as well as mandatory notes. It seems like a lot but Mr. Smith is a great professor. I finally "get" math, instead of just being able to work through it. I would recommend him if and only if you have self discipline to do the work and the time, otherwise this is going to be a tough class.

He assigns tons of homework, but never goes over it. If you have a question about the hw you have to see him on his desk time. His lessons are scattered and he'll spend 30 mins teaching a lesson and give a quiz on it eventhough you may not quite understand it yet. He's not the worst teacher but wouldn't be my first choice if doing it all over agai

Verle is a great teacher; the class moves fast, and you must keep up with homework - HW and notes are graded for completeness. Quizzes every class, used to reward attendance. Can make up points on tests. He will help you if you ask for it, but frowns on slackers. I got an A, and I am no math whiz.

Verle is a really decent person and a very fair, dedicated teacher. This class has a lot of homework and the homework and quizzes during class count towards your grade, so if you don't want to do the homework or come to class, you won't do well--no matter how good you are at math! If you are hard working Verle will help you succeed in this subject.

Mr. Smith is a fair teacher. He is tough, though. Class moves FAST. The bulk of your work is outside of class. You get to make up quizzes that you screw up and make test corrections on 3 of the 5 exams. LOTS and LOTS of homework.

I hate math and but he was a great teacher. You have to actually do the homework and keep up in class, but that's part of any math course. He's not the type to hold your hand if you're the whiny, helpless type, but is patient and helpful if you come to him with genuine questions. You will learn tons if you put in the work in this class.

He is very kind, and is always willing to help at anytime outside of class. And if he himself make minor mistakes while teaching, he accepts his mistakes. But if you find points taken off from your quizes or exams that you don't understand why, then it is your responsibility to go and find out why, otherwise you won't learn from your mistakes.

Mr. Smith spoke in a monotone voice and his class was full of preppy teenagers who were full of themselves. If I wanted to learn, I would've registered with a more patient and comprehensible instructor. He spoke too fast and didn't explain the steps for each problem well. He taught each concept in a couple of minutes. He's very inconsiderate.

Not sure why he got ANY bad ratings because he is the best math teacher I have ever had. It is impossible to get a bad grade in his class if you pay attention to his lectures. I pulled 100% on every test just by paying attention in class.

Very helpful and nice teacher, meets with you one-on-one throughout the term to assess and discuss how you are doing. Lots of homework but I am a bad procrastinator and I managed to get it done.

Great instructor. He really cares about his students, and he is willing to help them succeed. Hard, fast paced class, but that is just the course. Verle makes it very understandable. If you do the homework and study for the tests you will do alright. Verle is willing to spend extra time with you (one on one) if you need it.

This teacher knows his stuff, is willing to help you only if you are interested. Which is why it is called college. He is flexible and understanding. The class is a challenge and not like 60 or 65 a lot of new concepts to learn. If you are not committed to give it your all then you will not make it. You get credited for homework and can retake test

A lot of information VERY FAST, but he will meet with you in his office for hours and help you to learn one on one until you get it. And he offers retakes on his quizzes until you get %100, which helps keep the grade up.

This teacher needs to retire. He definitely does not want to be here. Unless you have taken him consequetively then do not take him because you will not survive. homework every class, quiz every class (even tho he said it was optional), and if you miss a decimal point, forget it! He will mark the entire problem wrong. Don't bother asking for help.

I like the way he reviews homework in class and problems before the exams, but I don't like the way he sometimes really makes me feel stupid when I ask him a question-and the quizzes can drag your grade down if you don't get it in class immidiately but learn thru repetition (homework). Clear teacher tho-it's true. Somewhere in the middle, i'd say.

He has an amazing way of making complicated things seem so clear. Verle Smith has been the ONLY math teacher that I've understood! Highly, highly, highly recommend him. Lots of work to do in class and out but worth it.

I took Math 95 last year and dropped it because i was failing. I'm taking the same class with Verle Smith and I'm getting an A! He's a great teacher, you'll love him.
