His class is basically class discussions and essays. You don't have to read, just come to class and know what the issues are. The papers are basically just arguments/research for pro-black issues. He hates white people, some things he says are really off-the-wall. There's one 10-15 pg paper and a final presentation..start early

His papers are easy but his midterm & final exams can be challenging. He gives you a ridiculously long study guide and he will only put about 15 % of it on the exams. If you do well on the papers you should be ok. I got a 54 on the midterm, 86 & 80 on the papers and still ended up with a B.

He is a very good teacher. You will definitely pass his class. You should try to attend class all the time because attendance is important. You will have many papers to write, but it's fine because in his class no one ever fails or even gets a C. He has slightly racial comments which can sometimes bother students, but other than that he's fine.

Attendence is a must in his class. Assigns readings and holds class discussions on them. As long as you keep up on the readings and attend class you will do fine. gives two exams and two papers. Exams are straight from the readings and class discussions. Grades the papers tough, puts a lot of thought in sybolism and grammar.

This is a truly good class. His teaching style is very personable. He opens up the floor for opinions as well as sharing his views or opinions. Dr. Hoyrd is a great teacher. Ha has alot of opinions, but it makes class interesting because he encourages alot more discussion than you would expect from a lit class. A fun class, relatively easy. Three main papers (3 pages each), midterm and final. The final is pretty much the midterm with extras, so use it to study.
