Comment:

Dr. Troell is amazing. I changed my major to Geology because of him. He is sweet and charming and loves to see his students grasping his teaching. The book we were required to get was just under $200 so he and another Geology professor decided to thoroughly summarize it in a set of notes which he sold (with no profit) to us for $5.00. Amazing.

Comment:

This class can change the way you see the world,& give you skills for life. You?ll be challenged to accomplish more than you thought you could do. Keep a notebook and study 3-4 hours per credit hour per week and you'll do well?-just cramming for tests not likely to work. The best value for your educational dollar you're likely to find anywhere.

Started with 22 ended up with 9. only 7 passed. if you take him, be ready to study for every test like it was a final. Plus it was an intro class, and he expects you to already be expert geologists. other ppl and myself spent numerous all nighters just to make a c. if you're a full time studennt and do other things, dont take him, not enough time

Teaches too fast for you to understand. Ask questions--he'll snap at you. Too much material, but you must know it all. 50% test questions NOT in book, notes, or Notebook, so you earn a 50 on tests. Discouraging. Doesn't care. Wasted money, time and hard work. Dept needs to honestly eval this prof for sake of students--most dropped. DON'T TAKE HIM.

This guy needs to teach this class at a intro level. Too much information! Too much information! Too much information! You have to study it all, he recommends that you go home after school and study HIS notes till midnight!

If you are looking for a professor who really knows the subject, has high standards, organizes the material better than the textbook, and can answer just about any question, take this class. You'll learn a Lot, but you can't get by without consistent hard work. You'll be told the chapters to study for a test, not the 50 specific questions.

This is one of the worst teachers ever. Class is super hard. Gets mad if you ask questions. Is not helpful. Says "you just need to know everything for this class". Not helpful. I will be suprized if you get high than a B in this class. I would tell you to find another teacher for this class. Class started with about 29 people and now there is 9.

needs to retire... 28 started the class 7 finished. Tells the same stories over and over. Ask questions not in textbook or lecture notes. He acts like this first year class is a master's level. Horrible Teacher, take any one else you can, anyone!!!

I've taken his classes twice and think he's one of the best I've had. My major going in was actually Drawing and Painting and only needed my science credits, but ended up taking his classes for all my science credits and changed my major to Geology this semester cause of him. He's difficult, but if you're interested and do what he says you'll pass!

I switched jobs bc of this class, had a load of notes, the notebook and still failed this class. I'm an A and B student, I still got an F. the tests are hard and teach is no help! Dont take him!

A very nice gentleman who is very knowledgeable. He disn't get his DR from a cereal box. Class started full, but ended up with about 10 people. I must admit that most people are taking course only because their major requires, and that it may be a little intense, however, with the outlines/notes provided, it's not that tough.

I studied for this class like it was my only one. Ended up dropping it. I hate to quit but it was like the harder I studied the worse I did. When students ask him question he get kinda mad. Beware, I saw well over the majority of poeple drop. I learned alot but I don't think his exams measured that. I wanted to cry. :-(

Speaks in a monotonous voice that will put you to sleep. Would leave the students when they would want to ask questions in lab. Notes did not follow the book. Didn't care if you kept up when you missed a class.

THIS CLASS WAS A NIGHTMARE!!! ANYONE TAKING GEOLOGY STAY AWAY FROM HIM. --- did not learn anything, everyone in the class was always confused. teaches at a masters or doctors level..... i dropped him, along with half of the rest of the class. please don't take him, NO ONE UNDERSTOOD HIM!!!!
