Comment:
Cain is a really goofy professor that makes being in class very enjoyable, especially if you're a stem major like myself and don't love writing. Some people don't like how goofy he is, but he's a really sweet professor and is always willing to meet with you outside of the classroom to go over your essays and any questions you have. Love him.

This man is a gem. You must must must take his class. He's one of the few truly genuine people i've ever met. He really cares about his students. He really really does. Read the books, you'll love what he has to say. Write your papers. That's all. He's very fair. and his courses are very fun.

Prof Cain is a six-foot-tall newborn baby. He is the second coming of Abraham Lincoln. Sometimes he gets carried away on tangents and doesn't leave much room for discussion, but he's never offended if you stop him. SO passionate about his subject. The most detailed essay feedback I've ever received from a professor.

I LOVE THIS MAN. He really takes the time to know and help his students. Mandatory office hours that are non-scary and very lovely. I really feel like I made a friend coming out of this class and the material (his insight on it) was unprecedented. Wish it was a year long course.

Prof. Cain was one of the best professors I had at Wellesley. I had him for an advanced seminar (Melville and Stowe) and then he was my thesis advisor. He was a gifted, passionate teacher and as an eminent scholar is incredibly helpful to students pursuing graduate study in English. Wellesley is lucky to have him.

Comment:
Prof Cain has a weird personality. He's very passionate, but he dramatizes everything he says and it is very difficult to get a word in when he's on his spiel. I also felt that he didn't teach Hamlet too well, but then again my high school Hamlet teacher was brilliant. All in all, a great person, an average teacher.

Hilarious & sweet professor, if you can find his extremely slow and loopy manner of lecturing endearing rather than infuriating.

does not appreciate any student imput. has his own unique 'writing style'- basically you have to relearn everything you've learned uptil his class because 'it's all been wrong'. boring.

I am so sad that I waited until my last semester at Wellesley to take a class with Bill Cain. Over the course of the semester, he became a god in my eyes. He is brilliant, kind, hilarious, sweet, and the fact that he is the most unusual professor I have ever had only makes him more wonderful. I never missed a single class because I loved it so much

This was one of the most horrid courses I've ever taken. Prof. Cain acts as if his students are watching Sesame Street. He does not listen to student input in discussions and constantly feels the need to justify every one of his assignments.
